This week on Mom, Christy discovers she is the subject of a scathing podcast created by her estranged daughter Violet.

When Christy’s new study buddy Stacy suggests she check out this podcast about someone who grew up with a crazy mother she finds out she is, in fact, the crazy mother the podcast is all about. Violet, Christy’s eldest child, hosts a podcast called “The Mother of all Problems” and tells horror stories from her childhood. Christy then becomes obsessed with it, even though she is totally mortified Violet is telling the world what a bad mom she was.

Bonnie, who Violet refers to as a “life preserver,” suggests Christy reach out. Having lost touch with her daughter when Violet changed her phone number, Christy was surprised to find out Bonnie hadn’t. Dialing for her, Bonnie tosses her cell to Christy who proceeds to leave a really awkward voicemail.

Over at the bar, Adam, who got drunk from selecting which beers he should serve, is having a breakdown, scared the business is going to fail. Bonnie, trying to call him down, ensures that everything will be just fine. After pointing out all his successes, Bonnie reminds Adam he’s the only person to have a good relationship with her, which is an accomplishment in and of its own.

While studying with Stacy, Christy is shocked to hear Violet leaked her voice mail in that day’s episode. Starstruck, Stacy asks Christy probing questions and even gets her picture taken with Bonnie the “life preserver.”

At the bistro with the ladies, Christy asks for advice on what to do about this situation with Violet. While Wendy and Jill think she should reach out again, Marjorie says she should keep her distance, because that’s the route she has taken with her son.

Arriving late, as usual, Bonnie strolls in handing out free chicken wing coupons for Adam’s bar to everyone in sight. When asked what she suggests Christy do, Bonnie offers to take her daughter right to Violet apartment, having been there before.

When they arrive, Violet refuses to hear her mother out unless it’s on tape. So they record their conversion for “The Mother of all Problems.” Christy, spilling her guts about how sorry she is for her past mistakes, pleads for forgiveness. Saying that she would prefer it if her mother would stay out of her life, Violet thanks Christy for recording with her and the two part ways. Out in the hall Bonnie and Christy have a touching moment when the latter needs a shoulder to cry on.

Adam’s bar is a hit on opening night, thanks to the (unauthorized) marketing efforts done by Bonnie. Christy, who is drowning her sorrows in chicken wings, has come to accept that Violet is obviously very hurt and she should just respect her daughter’s wishes. Marjorie, Wendy, and Jill come by to show their support as well. Tammy, who installed the urinals, asks customers they are at the right height. Getting a phone number in the process, Tammy is ecstatic even though she isn’t sure if it’s for a date or to do some work on a house.

Must Read. Instant Family: Trailers don’t do this sweet film justice. light

Wasn’t this week’s episode bittersweet? I am completely torn up over Christy and Violet’s encounter. But it’s great to see Adam’s business is getting off to a good start. See will have to see what happens the rest of this season! Maybe Violet will come around and start to see how much her mother has changed. What were your favorite moments?
