Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is now in theaters. How does the 10th film in the Harry Potter Universe franchise rank based on scores from critics vs fans?

There are a lot of rankings out there that countdown the best movies in the Harry Potter world. But we try something new here. We have taken the movie’s Rotten Tomatoes rating from both critics AND fans, to average it into its ultimate score. The math is simple, add the critics and audience score together, divide by two, and you get the deciding ranking.

Nothing will replace our love for the original Harry Potter movies. As remarkable as it is to have more stories and adventures from the wizarding world, nothing beats the joy and magic we got from Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). Still, we’re happy and grateful to have the Fantastic Beasts movies!

Before we begin, not that you need a reminder of the Harry Potter Universe movies, let’s remember their order of release:’

#10 Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Release date: November 16, 2018

Ultimate score: 57 (Critics score of 40% and audience score of 74%)

It’s sad to see a Harry Potter Universe movie get such a low score. Sure, it may change, but even if the current 40% from critics increases, it won’t by much. This is the first movie in the franchise to receive a rotten score.

Even though we see its flaws and understand why most critics love The Crimes of Grindelwald, we believe the movie is still enjoyable. It’s a lot of fun and features some of the most brilliant visuals in the series. It does try to pack on a bit too much, but if you’re a loyal fan of the movies and have been keeping up with the story, this shouldn’t be a problem.
