Kyle struggled to find his place at work because he lacked self-confidence in Last Man Standing Season 7, Episode 8. How did he resolve his problem?

The spotlight shined on Kyle Anderson (Christoph Sanders) in Last Man Standing Season 7, Episode 8. He cannot seem to find a job at Outdoor Man which suits him. While Mike Baxter (Tim Allen) and Ed Alzate (Hector Elizondo) want him to succeed, his wife Mandy (Molly McCook) wants him to stop feeling like a failure at work.

Last Man Standing Season 7, Episode 8 began when Mike called Kyle into his office. His current job in the hiring department isn’t working too well. He hired three people to work in boat sales, all for the same position! Ed implored Mike to find a well-suited position for Kyle. Mike agreed. Kyle is his son-in-law but also he is a valued Outdoor Man employee.

Ed privately told Mike that he will include Kyle in his will. Mike doesn’t want Kyle to simply earn money but rather feel like he matters at Outdoor Man. Kyle offered to leave Outdoor Man to work for his cousin’s painting business.

Mike returned home with news for Mandy. He wanted to move Kyle into a different position. She is concerned.

While Kyle isn’t concerned about ascending up the corporate ladder, he thinks he is failing as an Outdoor Man employee. To an extent, he feels like is he is failing Mike because Mike is his boss. While Mandy doesn’t see him as a failure, she can’t give him that confidence at work.

Mike doesn’t see Kyle as a failure but he understood Mandy’s viewpoint. Kyle constantly has been told he will never amount to anything. He has been a floater for most of his time at Outdoor Man.

Because people generally like Kyle and he is so friendly, Mike offered Kyle the opportunity to temporarily work in human resources while another employee is on vacation. On his first day in the position, Kyle received a tough task.

Chuck (Jonathan Adams) and Joe (Jay Leno) filed a complaint against Mike. They said Mike verbally harassed them. Haven’t we seen that before? Kyle was initially overwhelmed.

He sought advice from Ed, and Ed told him to deal with the situation immediately. Ed also implied Kyle is a part of his will. Kyle hosted a meeting with Mike, Joe, and Chuck.

At the meeting, Kyle attempted to follow company protocol for dealing with a harassment claim. Naturally, the three other men veered off course, and the meeting quickly got out of hand. The three men traded verbal jabs and they ignored Kyle’s input. Frustrated with the outcome, Kyle finally stood up for himself.

He reminded the three men that Outdoor Man employees have a family-like atmosphere. Following his declaration, Ed led the men in a round of applause for Kyle. He was set up!

Mike knew Kyle could succeed in the human resources position if only he believed in himself. Because words wouldn’t suffice, Mike concocted this situation to force Kyle to stand up for himself. Kyle earned an “A+” grade from Ed and Mike. He found his self-confidence and his place at Outdoor Man.

Last Man Standing Season 7, Episode 8 was entitled “HR’s Rough n’ Stuff.” The “HR’s Rough” portion dealt with Kyle and his job at Outdoor Man. The “n’ Stuff” portion focused on the secondary storyline. Unfortunately, the Last Man Standing team did not well-develop it.

In short, Kristen (Amanda Fuller), Ryan (Jordan Masterson), and Boyd (Jet Jurgensmeyer) watched the dog of one of Boyds’ friends. While the dog liked Boyd and Kristen, it growled at Ryan. Kristen initially did not want to watch the dog, but Ryan caved to Boyd’s desire and they agreed to watch it. Yet the dog disliked Ryan.

Vanessa (Nancy Travis) came over and Ryan sought her scientific assistance. She conducted an experiment where she watched Ryan engage the dog one-on-one. Rather quickly, they discovered the dog disliked Ryan’s hat. I guessed the dog disliked the hat almost instantly, so that portion of the episode fell flat.

Instead, the Last Man Standing writers could’ve shown Boyd handling the responsibilities of taking care of the dog. Increasing responsibilities are common for teenagers. To boot, Boyd could’ve acted like a know-it-all teenager, a relatable topic for many people.
