The 25 Days of Sam-mas is the perfect time to pick a Christmas movie to watch. Make it the Jared Padalecki movie, Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage.

There is only one Christmas movie Jared Padalecki fans need to watch this year. For Day #9 of the 25 Days of Sam-mas, we’re looking at Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage, a truly magical and beautiful movie for the whole family.

Released on Nov. 11, 2008, the family-friendly movie tells the story of Thomas, a young artist who heads back home to Placerville, California. He expects another perfect family Christmas, but it all soon turns upside down. The whole town is struggling with the tourist industry failing and Thomas’ mom is about to see the family home foreclosed.

There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of something to celebrate this year. Thomas doesn’t want that to be the case, so uses his artistic talents to make sure there’s a reminder of what makes the time of year so special.

Based on a true story of Thomas Kinkade, it’s a movie that is often forgotten about. Jared Padalecki starred as the titular character, but the movie didn’t get the worldwide theatrical release that it deserved. It wasn’t even released in the United States in November 2008.

In fact, the movie was supposed to be released in December 2007. Held back due to music rights and film editing, Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage was always against the odds. It only made $41,724 worldwide because of the delays and limited release.

There isn’t a Tomatometer rating available, but the movie does have a 60% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 3.7/5.0 rating. When you want a feel-good movie, this is the one to watch.
