Where is Kong at during Godzilla: King Of The Monsters?

The newest trailer for Godzilla: King Of The Monsters revealed that the world is in chaos. Multiple super-predators are on the verge of destroying civilization but one is noticeably absent — Kong.

When the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla hits theaters, a clash of epic proportions will take place. It’ll be the biggest collision of super-species since Pacific Rim: Uprising but on an entirely different scale.

The monsters attacking Earth in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters tower over cities, showing exactly how easily they can wipe everyone out. But in all of this dismay, one creature hasn’t been awoken — Kong. We know he has a major fight coming up in Godzilla Vs. Kong but there’s no sign of the big ape anywhere. There are plenty of explanations for why Kong isn’t in the battle royale but the most logical is that he’s already been beaten.

Since it’s possible Godzilla Vs. Kong takes place before the big showdown with King Ghidorah, Kong’s absence may be an early sign of his defeat. The eighth wonder-of-the-world has been deemed the underdog in his upcoming fight with Godzilla due to the size difference between them. so he could be set up for a premature demise. However, an overlooked detail in Kong: Skull Island revealed that Kong would continue to increase in size as the years passed, changing that.

There’s a couple of things we need to account for. One, Skull Island takes place around the 1970s while Godzilla (2014) took place in the present day. Secondly, Kong will grow more and more every year. And lastly, the Kong’s rate of growth could increase without warning.

With those factors accounted for, the two behemoths could measure up equally when they meet. Various scale models designed by fans have shown the current comparison versus the theoretical size of Kong after 2014, creating a visual representation of their upcoming tango. But in the off-chance that their battle happens after the next Godzilla movie, Kong could be substantially bigger than anticipated.

Whatever the case may be, Kong’s absence from Godzilla: King Of The Monsters has us worried that the giant ape won’t make it past round one with his equally large lizard-counterpart. Hopefully, he’s just off protecting Skull Island because it’d be a shame to learn of Kong’s death before witnessing his last fight.
