This week on Mom, Christy accidentally discovers a secret Adam has been keeping from Bonnie, and Tammy struggles to find a job before Christmas Eve.

The ladies decide to do a Secret Santa gift exchange again this year on Mom while cleaning up after an AA meeting. Tammy, excited for her first Christmas as free woman in quite a few years really hopes to draw Bonnie’s name. Marjorie, who wasn’t too thrilled to have drawn it, was happy to trade.

The next morning, Christy is scrambling to figure something out for Wendy, who she is shocked to realize she knows so little about. Bonnie, who drew Marjorie, knows exactly what to get her, a cat pillow. Running behind, Adam says a quick goodbye before heading out to the bar. But before leaving, he breaks the news to Bonnie that he’s going to have to work Christmas Eve.

Later, Tammy finds out from her new parole officer that she is going to have to find a job by Christmas Eve or she’ll go back to jail. Freaking out, Bonnie spends her afternoon taking Tammy from retail store to retail store to find her job.

Christy, after doing a little sleuthing, finds a distant family member of Wendy’s on Facebook. She develops suspicions that this side of her family is involved in the mob somehow, but gets an old family recipe anyway.

Having to run to Adam’s to grab a cookie sheet pan, Christy discovers Adam has been renting his apartment on Airbnb to make a little extra money on the side. So naturally, Christy stops by the bar to talk to Adam about what’s going on. After making her swear not to tell her mother, Adam tells Christy that the bar isn’t doing too well and he’s worried it’ll go under soon if business doesn’t pick up.

That evening, Jill, Wendy, Bonnie, and Marjorie stop by the local Tex-Mex fast food joint “Taco Willy’s” to see Tammy at her new job. Loving it, Tammy is so excited she found a job in time to stay out of prison.

Later, Bonnie finds out a check Adam gave her for their wedding band bounced and now she’s freaking out because she’s worried. Christy, who doesn’t know how to play it cool, starts acting really strange and Bonnie shakes out the truth in no time. Rushing to the bar, Bonnie confronts Adam who confesses that he kept it from her because he doesn’t want to disappoint her. Ensuring him that she’s in it for better or worse, Bonnie gives her fiance a helping hand with some customers.

That same night at a meeting, Tammy comes in at the last minute with news that she lost her job because she gave away some food to a homeless man. But with the support of the group, Tammy goes to her parole officer appointment the next day and learns she will stay out of prison as long as the ladies help her establish a legitimate handy-man small business.

At the bar, Bonnie and Adam are surprised to see a lot of customers since it was Christmas Eve evening. On a serious note, Bonnie and Adam decide it would be best if they pushed back the wedding until the bar started seeing more stable success.

Everyone was more than happy with their Secret Santa gift. Marjorie adored her “purrfect” pillow. Christy was feeling good in her sleek leather jacket Jill got her. Bonnie was surprised to find Tammy bought her the book they used to read with each other as little girls. And Wendy thought her nurse cat cookie jar was cute but played coy at the mention of her family. When giving a hug to Christy, Wendy whispered into her ear that she should just forget all about the cousin she contacted, alluding he and her family are involved in the mob.
