Fuller House recap: Season 4 premiere may bring you watery eyes
By Sefket Nouri
Fuller House Season 4 has dropped on Netflix and it is in full swing! The premiere, titled Oh My Santa, delivered an emotional storyline.
Wow, that was a great Season 4 premiere! Fuller House is starting off in full swing with the premiere, titled “Oh My Santa,” delivering an emotional storyline. D.J., Stephanie, Kimmy, Jackson, Ramona, Max, Tommy, and the gang are celebrating Christmas Eve, but something happened.
When D.J. brought Max and Tommy to the mall to see Santa, it turned out that Max was scared of Santa and Max was having the humbugs, so they ended up going back home. We found out why Max wasn’t feeling it, especially on Christmas Eve.
We found out that Max saw kids with their fathers in line waiting for Santa and it was hurting him badly as his father passed away. He was a firefighter and died in the line of duty. D.J. later realized this was bugging Max at home when he accidentally dropped the firefighter ornament that Stephanie gave to him to decorate the Christmas tree and then he ran upstairs. This is where D.J. and Max were having a mother and son moment, more like a heart-to-heart moment.

- It’s a slow week on Netflix with only three new releases (Nov. 20)
- Exploding Kittens: From card game to Netflix animated series starring Tom Ellis
- The Crown and more Netflix shows and movies to stream this week (November 13)
- Escaping Twin Flames and more harrowing love-centered documentaries to watch on Netflix
I have to say that Elias Harger (Max) did a fantastic job in the premiere with his acting skills. He’s growing and maturing and his acting is improving because of it. We see him almost crying while talking to D.J. as having no father for the holidays hits you hard.
What was more of a goosebumps moment? We see an old family home video of D.J. and late Tommy, and Tommy’s mother calls him and tells him where he hid the presents in the house.
In the video, Kimmy heard where the presents were. Kimmy went to go get the gifts which were above the washer in a cabinet and gave the presents to D.J. and her kids. That was such a great moment.
We also saw Kimmy pregnant, how great was that?! Stephanie is being overprotective of Kimmy as it’s her child and it’s bringing Stephanie and Kimmy closer as friends. I like these kinds of moments in shows. D.J. and Steve are also giving it another go with dating after 25 years! I’m #TeamSteve, don’t mind me.
What I also liked about the premiere? It has the same vibe and tone from the previous three seasons as we all know creator Jeff Franklin was fired after complaints about his behavior. Many fans were worried that the quality of the show would suffer, but don’t worry! I’m glad to report it appears so far nothing has changed. I expect why that may be as well.
Netflix promoted co-executive producers Steve Baldikoski and Bryan Behar to showrunners of Fuller House. They are both veteran multi-camera comedy writers and producers who have worked on 8 Simple Rules, Last Man Standing, and more shows. So at the end, there was no need to worry about Fuller House under their control.
I also noticed during the credits that Candace Cameron Bure was promoted to producer. A congratulation is in rounds for her as she deserves it, especially as she’s the lead of Fuller House.
I’m now on my way to watching the rest of Fuller House Season 4. I can’t wait to see how the episodes will go. Comment below on how you liked the premiere!
