Funimation has released an exclusive Cowboy Bebop collector’s set that gives the series the special treatment it truly deserves.

In celebration of 25 years of Cowboy Bebop, Funimation has created the ultimate way for fans to appreciate the iconic anime series. In an exclusive pre-order only special edition, Bebop fans can now experience the series in Blu-ray quality with a massive steelbook case and several other goodies to salivate over, so let’s jump right into what this particular set entails!

Steelbook casing

More from Entertainment

The new box set is in such pristine quality that it will easily live longer than the shelf life of any casing. The set includes both DVD and Blu-ray versions of the series, recently remastered and upgraded to the absolute best quality you can imagine.

Of course, they don’t change it enough to the point where it takes away from the initial animation but the revamp is something that long-time fans will appreciate and need to see for themselves. With this steel-infused protective set, it’s as if you can take a little piece of the Bebop ship itself with you for repeat viewings of the timeless series.

Artbook with brand new bonus content

Possibly my favorite feature/inclusion to this Bebop bundle is the exclusive artbook made just for the special release. The book contains things like character designs and sketches, some of which are from the series’ original concepts and some include unseen art to better characterize the characters around the time of conception.

It also includes commentary as the anime progressed, offering some of the creator’s ideas and thoughts on particular scenes or little-known facts such as the series first and the last scenes decided before anything had even been drawn up for Cowboy Bebop. Another interesting Easter egg for fans is the listing for the story map that included four episode concepts that didn’t make it, including a retired bounty hunter on one last mission that gave great insight on what else CB could have entailed.

Vinyls of the phenomenal soundtrack

As far as anime soundtracks go, there are several that receive praise, but none quite like the amazing work from Cowboy Bebop composer Yoko Kanno. The jazz-inspired music has a timeless ambiance, and the special vinyl of it allows the gritty texture of jazz to be heard, felt and utterly adored to maximum capacity.

This is one of those features that any fan of the series (or music in general) would purchase on its own. The fact that it hasn’t been done before only adds more reasons to love the re-release of Cowboy Bebop from Funimation.

Exclusive prints

To sweeten the deal, Funimation has included four distinct art cards with the main characters (Ed and Ein share one) and a group shot as well. The art is absolutely worth showcasing, printed in very high quality and ready to be hung up amongst other great anime inspired artwork. Again, these are exclusive prints so don’t expect to find these online or in store, making this new Cowboy Bebop package rarer.

The film is now on Blu-ray, and included

The popular film titled Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door was recently brought back into theatres by Funimation for a limited celebratory run, with anime fans either being introduced or reintroduced to the anime in a glorious cinematic form. The film was highly praised for the theatrical tale, stellar music, and powerful plot, but is now included in a series bundle for the first time from Funimation. The film has additionally been brought to Blu-ray quality (like the series) and can be enjoyed upon a binge viewing with all of the special features in a crisp quality that emits complete perfection.

Cowboy Bebop the live action series is coming to Netflix. dark. Next

This Cowboy Bebop set was an exclusive pre-order only purchase, but keep an eye out in case you get the opportunity to obtain this because it’s certainly worth it and would make a Bebop fan’s dreams come true!
