The Flash: Can we really trust Nora?
In the mid-season finale of The Flash, it was revealed that Nora is working for Eobard Thawne in the future. Does that mean we can’t trust her?
When The Flash Season 4 ended, Nora revealed herself as Barry and Iris’s daughter. When Season 5 premiered, the show dealt with her presence in the present as if it wasn’t a terrible thing. Yes, Nora changed part of the timeline, but it wasn’t a big deal. She was getting to know the dad she never got to know. Everything seemed to be fine, until that last scene in the mid-season finale.
We watched as Nora raced back to the future and met with what appears to be Eobard Thawne in a prison cell. This raises a lot of suspicions about Nora’s motivation to be in the past.

During the mid-season finale, Sherloque was becoming suspicious of Nora. He was thinking that she must be up to something, with the way she was writing in her journal. However, he seemed to let it go pretty quickly.
But it all raises the question: Can we trust Nora? Throughout the entire season, I’ve been pretty leery about her character. It all seems too easy. Especially after they made a huge deal with Flashpoint in a previous season.
Why is it okay that Nora is just hanging out in the past, interacting with her parents, and changing stuff? Why isn’t it frowned on?

What’s not clear is if she’s already put in motion whatever Eobard Thawne has her in the past to orchestrate. Is she there to just gather intel on Barry? Give Thawne ideas on Barry’s timeline to thwart him? At first, I thought Nora was in the past to try and prevent Barry’s disappearance, but now I’m wondering if she’s there to assist in it happening.
When the show returns on Jan. 15, it’ll be interesting to see if Sherloque continues to dive into his suspicions of Nora, or even bring the suspicions up to anyone else. Maybe not Barry and Iris, they probably would brush off any suspicions as they’re enjoying bonding with their daughter. But maybe Cisco or maybe even Ralph, can step in and flesh out Sherloque’s investigation.
Either way, I know when the show returns, I’ll be watching Nora with a bit more suspicion. I’m not entirely sure we can trust her. She’ doesn’t trust her mom and sees her dad as abandoning her. Even if she’s had a change of heart, is it too late to stop whatever Thawne’s plan is?
What do you think? Can Nora be trusted? Has she changed her mind and will end up working against Thawne? Please let us know in the comments below.
