Aquaman enjoys another weekend as box office master
By Sandy C.
Which movies did you catch in theaters this weekend? It was a quiet couple of days at the box office, here are the top 10 movies…
The month of January is always a slow one for movies. While there are a couple of films moviegoers are looking forward to this month, it’s mostly pretty quiet. Only one movie premiered in theaters this weekend, Escape Room. How did the horror thriller do? The box office numbers are in!
At the top of the box office, once again, is Aquaman, collecting another $30.7 million for a worldwide total of $940.7 million! If that isn’t impressive, for a DCEU movie, I don’t know what is. It won’t be long before the movie surpasses $1 billion.
Sony’s Escape Room follows in second place with $18 million. For a budget of $9 million, its predicted $18 million this weekend is pretty impressive. The movie stars Deborah Ann Woll and Tyler Labine.

Mary Poppins Returns is in third with $15.7 million and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse comes at fourth with $13 million.
The animated superhero movie now has a total of $275.3 million. To be honest, I was expecting the movie to attract more, but despite the critical acclaim, Into the Spider-Verse seems to accumulate just a little at a time.
