The Black Mirror: Bandersnatch hype has died down. Over at Netflix, it is now all about the psychological thriller, You.

Haven’t check out You on Netflix just yet? Please note: There are light spoilers ahead! We stay away from revealing anything major, though.

The creepy thriller follows Joe, portrayed by Penn Badgley, a bookstore manager in New York stalking aspiring writer Beck (Elizabeth Lail) after she walks into the shop and catches his interest. Joe narrates You and walks viewers through his journey. And, by journey, we’re talking about his stalking, crimes, murder, and psycho ways. What do audiences have to say about all this? They love him!

Should they, though? Absolutely not. But maybe that’s one of the things You is trying to achieve – for viewers to fall in love with the villain. If so, they have succeeded, and it also shows what a great performance Penn Badgley delivers as the alarming stalker.

But is the love for Joe also alarming? Some viewers, and even Badgley himself, believe it is.

The actor took it to his social media to express concern over the love his character has been receiving. Of course, his concern isn’t truly serious, though he does find it scary. While he does make it clear that one should never fall for a creepy stalker in real life, he’s very grateful fans have been loving his performance.

Check out some of Badgley’s tweets, below:

Meanwhile, Netflix’s Twitter account has the right idea. Earlier this week, they tweeted out a list of things You has ruined after binge-watching the series. The list includes everything from books, windows that face the street, the name “Joseph,” and even the ability to trust technology.

So, is it okay to love Joe as much as we do? I believe as long as we’re aware characters like Joe do exists in the world and we should keep our distance from them, we can continue loving Badgley’s Joe! What’s your take? Are you as obsessed as everyone else?
