An easy to miss aspect of the snippet provided is the part Jorah Mormont plays in all of this.

It’s important to remember he was once the Lord of Bear Island. He was the head of the entire House Mormont. For that alone there has to be an intense connection to Sansa and Jon. It’s true he left as a disgraced slaver, but he’s still a Mormont. Seeing how little hellfire Lady Lyanna Mormont welcomes him will be a truly tense moment. She’s very strongly in favor of Jon Snow as King of the North, and led the declaration when the Northern Lords met. Also, keep in mind Jorah was knighted by King Robert Baratheon.

All of that considered, it would make sense for Jorah to side with only accepting a Stark (or Jon Snow) as leader.

On the other hand, Jorah has an unrequited, ceaseless love for Danearys Targaryen. That alone is enough for him to stay on his current side.

One other small aspect is his family’s ancestral sword, Longclaw. While it was once bequeathed to Jorah, he had to ditch it when he left in disgrace. While Jon Snow may have offered to give the sword back at one time, and Jorah refused, that doesn’t mean the deep-seeded desire to clear his legacy among the Mormont family is gone.

Seeing his reception will be a very fun enjoyable aspect up the upcoming season.
