Bob’s Burgers: Looking back at the show 8 years in
On January 9th, Bob’s Burgers turned 8 years old. In honor of its birthday, let’s look back at some of the show’s memorable moments.
On January 9th, Bob’s Burgers celebrated its birthday. Well, not really but guest stars, fans and even creator Loren Bouchard gave the show a shoutout. The series turned 8 years old and it’s awesome to see how far they’ve come. Throughout the seasons, the show has grown into a constantly evolving yet beloved franchise.
Even though the show is only 8 years old, they’ve produced 9 seasons. That’s a huge milestone as some shows don’t even get that. Overall, Bob’s Burgers has become the darling of adult animated shows. It’s nothing like what’s come before or anything that’s been produced after it. In honor of its 8th birthday, let’s look back at some of the show’s most memorable moments.
I’d be remiss to not include the show’s premiere first. Bob’s Burgers premiered on January 9, 2011. Entitled “Human Flesh,” it was our first taste of what Bob’s Burgers could be but especially Louise’s character. The entire episode follows Bob and his family as they try to convince people that they’re not cannibals. It truly set the tone for the rest of the series.

While “Human Flesh” was a good start, the series eventually moved away from its dark and edgy humor. In season 3, the show started to focus more on the family. It also shined a light on them as individual characters and the restaurant. Season 3 was memorable for many reasons as the show got a full 20+ episode order and it featured the show’s first now-iconic holiday episodes.
Before moving on to other moments, there are a few other seasons who deserve a mention. Season 4 featured the show’s first 2-part episode while season 6 featured the show’s 100th episode. Season 8 featured their first hour-long episode, a Christmas one to boot. Lastly, season 9 featured the show’s 150th episode and once again, brought us another chronically re-watchable episode.
Moving away from the seasons, there are a lot of exciting moments that happened outside of the series. The show has its own panel on Comic-Con and last year, Shake Shack even made their own pop-up Bob’s Burgers. Bob’s Burgers has its own comic series by Dynamite Entertainment and is still an on-going series.
One of the biggest milestones for the show was the release of its album. If you’re a fan of the series, you know how big of a role music plays. Bob’s Burgers is known for featuring songs in a lot of its episodes. Even though it might seem strange, the songs always work in the episode and pass the time in a unique way.
Since music plays such a huge role, the series finally released an album in 2017. The album features all the songs from seasons 1-6. The album features over 100 songs and even has a few covers from Bob’s Buskers. Overall, the album was well-received by fans and critics alike.
In 8 years, Bob’s Burgers has gone from having mixed reviews to being one of the most popular shows on TV. The show is counted as a favorite by many and no doubt has an episode for everyone. For me, Bob’s Burgers has become my favorite show and holds such a special place in my heart.
With an upcoming movie, Bob’s Burgers doesn’t look to be slowing down. If anything, the show is becoming even more popular. Here’s to 8 more years of the Belchers and their shenanigans. Happy belated birthday to Bob’s Burgers, a show that only gets better with age.
Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 8:30/7:30c.
