January 24 is a special day in the Supernatural fandom. It’s the day both Dean Winchester and Jessica Moore were born. But they share more than just a birthday.

Dean Winchester and Jessica Moore were both born on January 24 in Supernatural. Different years, but they still share a birthday. But it’s more than that.

While we celebrate their birthdays (or commemorate a birthday in Jessica’s case), it’s also important to look at everything else they shared. And it all comes down to Sam Winchester.

Both Dean and Jess became the most important people in Sam’s life at some point. They were both important for him developing a part of who he is today. We’ve seen Dean’s effect on Sam more over the course of 14 seasons and the backstory offered, but it’s hard to deny Jess’ effect more than just the fact that he went on a revenge hunt because of her.

She was the one he opened up to. While he told her nothing about the things that really go bump in the night, he did trust her with most of his family story. She knew he didn’t talk to his dad at all and barely talked to his brother, meaning she was understandably surprised when Dean showed up “looking for a beer.”

Throughout their time together, Jessica supported Sam for the man that he was. When he had nobody but himself, she was the one to fill that void with care and love. Sure, she pushed him to go to the Halloween party, but that was minor compared to the push Sam got from John and Dean in terms of hunting.

Jessica cared about Sam on a human level. She wanted to be with him because of the type of man he was, and she helped him be a better man. There have been other women in Sam’s life, but none have quite had the same effect. While I’ve focused away from her death, there is only Jess who led to Sam going on a revenge mission for out of the women.

The only other person Sam has been on a revenge mission for is Dean, once again, connecting the two characters by more than just a birthday.
