Grown-ish recap: Will Anna and Aaron hookup?

From Nomi’s numerous one-night stands to Ana’s surprising mini makeout session, hookup season is in full effect on this week’s episode of Freeform’s grown-ish.

What would college be without tests, parties, and the occasional hookup? The short answer is absolutely boring. Just ask Nomi (Emily Arlook), the show’s resident player and the star of Season 2, Episode 5, titled “Girls Like You.”

Nomi’s constant flow of hookups quickly begins to kill the vibe of roommates Zoey (Yara Shahidi) and Ana (Francia Raisa). The latter also finds it distasteful that Nomi “preys” almost entirely on straight women. Zoey straddles the fence and attempts to be a non-judgemental friend, but over the course of the episode, her tune also shifts.

This forces Nomi to confront just why she likes to hookup and hookup only with straight women:  It’s almost guaranteed that she’ll never have to bring them home to her parents. Fans of last season may remember that Nomi hadn’t yet come out to her family members. She seeks advice from her gay, gender studies professor who basically alludes to the fact that the key to cracking this cycle of meaningless hookups is by coming out finally. Nomi seems to take her teacher’s advice well, so I’m sure this scene is coming soon on the show.

Speaking of coming soon, it’s time to start dreaming up ship names because grown-ish has got a new couple on the way. Well, maybe. It’s probably too soon to tell since they didn’t exactly hookup yet, but something tells me Ana and Aaron (Trevor Jackson) are going to be some sort of item soon.

Ana, still fuming from her confrontation with Nomi, is comforted by Aaron. He points out that she’s so uptight when it comes to accepting different points of view and trying new things. She disagrees at first but soon realizes he’s right. So, Ana,  Aaron and the rest of their friends set out to complete a college bucket list of sorts. Items include trying pineapple pizza, doing bar karaoke, kissing a white boy, and riding on a scooter. Doing the latter is what lands Ana and Aaron in the compromising situation.

Let’s just say that just as the scooter they were riding on aligned, so did the stars. Aaron leaned in and kissed Ana, she puckered back, and the rest is history.

Will this lead anywhere? Who knows, although Ana isn’t one to just casually hookup – look at how she treated Nomi. The only problem is, what will Zoey do when she finds out. Zoey made it clear that too many rules weren’t her thing, but I have a feeling that this possible (depending on who you ask) girl code violation won’t go over well with her.
