Hidden Remote Film Awards 2019: Official nominations
By Wesley Lara
As the film awards season comes to an end, the fine folks here at Hidden Remote will join in with the inaugural Hidden Remote Film Awards!
Awards season is almost always the most exciting portion of the year for movie and TV fans, for better or for worse. Either the huge award voting bodies actively try to champion smaller and/or ambitious projects with little to no commercial appeal or they may try to include popular mainstream films to appeal to a wider audience. Either way you look at it, somebody is always bound to be disappointed by the nominations.
Despite all of that, there’s something satisfying about predicting the potential nominees for the Oscars and even more fun is the age-old activity of re-imagining reality to stick our own ideas in there. Specifically, there’s a level of personal power that comes with giving your own take on who and what films should be recognized for awards in the year. The writers and staff here at Hidden Remote feel the same way, which is where the Hidden Remote Film Awards come into play.

The Hidden Remote Film Awards should be fairly self-explanatory. The fine folks who contribute to the content of Hidden Remote got together to vote on what they considered to be the best in film for 2018. These votes have been spread across six different categories and after a lengthy process, we now have enough to officially announce the nominations for the inaugural awards this year.
We did this to make our voices heard in what we personally thought were the movie highlights of a very loaded 2018 and though not everyone’s ideal choices made it, there’s still enough variety for everyone to at least appreciate. Also, these awards are not physical or “official” in terms of awards circuits. It’s more of a personal matter that we had a lot of fun coming up with!
There are six categories that were voted on and each one will have a total of six nominees. The announcements happen today and the winners will be chosen next Friday right before the Oscars on Sunday. The votes will be decided within the Hidden Remote contributors to make this as fair as any award show should be. Many writers with many different tastes contribute to this site, so it’ll feel nice to have their voices heard in some way, shape, or form.
Without further ado, here are the nominations for each category!
