Jussie Smollett is reportedly unhappy with his Empire salary, making fans question how much he’s actually earning.

As the Jussie Smollett drama continues to play out in the media over his alleged dissatisfaction over his Empire salary, questions are being raised in terms of his salary.

There appear to be some discrepancies over how much Smollett was earning from his role as Jamal Lyon on Fox’s Empire. While The Business Insider reports the actor was earning close to $65,000 per episode, a source told Vulture that Smollett was actually earning upwards of $175,000 per episode.

Other reports claim he still gets full pay for all 18 episodes per season and that he may have started out with a salary of around $20,000 per episode when Empire first premiered. According to IMBD, Smollett has filmed all 75 episodes of the show.

More from FOX

Jussie Smollett is making headlines over supposedly staging an attack in retaliation for not making as much as his co-stars on the show. In comparison, Express reveals that Terrance Howard and Taraji P. Henson were reportedly getting paid closer to $175,000 per episode. They have also filmed 75 episodes, respectively.

The same report reveals that Smollett is making just as much as the other on-screen children, Trai Byers and Bryshere Y. Gray. If all of this information is true, Jussie Smollett’s net worth could be close to $1 million, despite Empire’s rollercoaster ratings.

It’s no secret that Empire has experienced dips in ratings before, as covered by Hidden Remote.

Regardless of the drama surrounding the case, the new season of Empire is moving ahead. FOX announced the news on its Twitter account, revealing that the show is coming back in March.
