The Walking Dead went up against the Oscars this Sunday, which of the two attracted a larger audience?

It’s not the first time AMC’s The Walking Dead airs during the Academy Awards. In fact, I think it has been doing so every year. If they’re not afraid of walkers, why should they fear entertainment’s biggest night, the most prestigious award show, the Oscars.

The Oscars have always been a bit controversial, turning audiences off a bit more each year. This weekend, they even went on without a host, a bold move. Meanwhile, The Walking Dead hasn’t been doing too hot, either. Ratings for the drama have been slowly descending. How did each do this Sunday? Let’s take a look at the ratings!

More from Entertainment

According to Forbes, the AMC series has hit an all-time ratings low this Sunday. The source reports that the latest episode brought in “less viewers than any episode ever.” Yes, even when TWD was just introducing Season 1! Forbes does not share just what the numbers are exactly, so stay tuned for those!

As for the Academy Awards, they did a lot better than last year’s all-time low numbers, Deadline reports. Deadline shares that Sunday’s Oscars attracted a 20.6/34 in metered markets. To put it in terms you’re more likely to understand (myself included) the 2019 Oscars ratings are up 9% when compared to last year’s Jimmy Kimmel-hosted ceremony. Not spectacular, but it’s headed in the right direction.

By the end of the night, however, the Academy Awards disappointed the majority of its audience by awarding Green Book with Best Picture.
