All good Winchesters go to Heaven
It all starts with Dean noticing his gun is missing from under his pillow. We all know that he keeps one there, so it’s concerning when it’s gone. And it should be concerning. Two men are holding guns at him and Sam.
These two hunters are ones that Dean regonizes: Waly and Roy. Walt needs to kill Sam because he was the one to start the apocalypse. Of course, they need to kill Dean too. And so, both Winchesters are killed.

When Dean wakes, he’s in the Impala. He gets out to find 13-year-old Sam outside iwth a box of fireworks. It’s fourth of July and Dean realizes he’s in one of his memories. Then a bunch of other memories flash through his mind before he’s left alone once more.
Castiel manages to talk to Dean through Baby’s radio, confirming that Dean is dead and in Heaven. He needs to follow the road to get to Sam.
Learning all about Sam’s happy memories
It doesn’t take too long to find Sam, whose happy memory is Thanksgiving dinner at a crush when he was a teen. It was Sam’s first real Thanksgiving.
A searchlight sweeps inside the house, forcing the two to hide. Castiel gets a message through the TV saying that Zachariah is trying to send the Winchesters back to Earth. However, Castiel wants the boys to get to God. This is the chance to find God and they can do that by getting to Joshua. To do that, they need to follow the road through Heaven to the garden, called the axis mundi.
Along the road, the Winchesters see more of their happy memories. One of Dean’s was a time when he was four when he comforted Mary after arguing with John. One of Sam’s is when he ran away from Dean and John with his dog, Bones. Dean points out that it was one of Dean’s worst experiences.
It’s soon clear to Dean that while his good memories are all about family, Sam’s are the times he was away from the family — away from Dean.
Saved by a friend
When Zachariah turns up again, a masked figure appears and called the Winchesters over. The brothers follow him into the Roadhouse. Sure enough, the masked man is Ash, who has learned all about Heaven. Each person has their own version and soul mates get to share their Heavens. Ash has figured a way to get between the different Heavens, and this isn’t the first time the Winchesters have been in Heaven.
The brothers also get to see Pamela again, who admits that she enjoys Heaven. She also thinks Dean should reconsider saying yes to Michael.
After a small reunion — learning that Mary and John haven’t been found in Heaven yet and Ash didn’t realize Ellen and Jo were dead — Ash gives Dean and Sam a shortcut to the garden. This takes the brothers back to their home, where Mary reappears and this time taunts Dean, saying he was a burden.
Sure enough, the Heaven has been manipulated by Zachariah. He appears to tell the brothers he will torment them until both say yes. However, Joshua shows up and warns Zachariah of God’s wrath.
The truth about God
In the garden. Joshua has a chance to share all about the role God has played up to this point. It was God who saved the Winchesters when Lucifer rose and brought Castiel back. Now God has given them salvation.
God is somewhere on Earth but the amulet won’t help Castiel find him. God doesn’t want to be found and he has no interest in intervening with the apocalypse. God also doesn’t want the Winchesters to intervene either.
The Winchesters are sent back to Earth, full of the memories from Heaven this time. Castiel is naturally disappointed to hear that God has wiped his hands of the world and offers Dean the amulet back. However, after everything that Dean has learned, Dean doesn’t want the amulet and drops it in the wastebasket.
Of course, we believed that it was it. Yet, we know the truth about what happened to it now.
