Supernatural wasted no time in showing how Sam and Jack were not dealing after the last episode. Here are the best lines from Supernatural Season 14, Episode 15.

Supernatural Season 14, Episode 15 certainly brought up a number of topics, including grief, living soullessly, and continuing the good fight. It took Sam becoming a 1950s husband to figure out who he was and accepting that he could feel.

Just what were the best lines from the night. Here are my five favorite lines from “Peace of Mind.”

He says he’s good. I think they’re both full of crap.

Dean knows his brother all too well. He also shows that he knows Jack all too well. They’re both very much like him and will try to pretend that they’re fine when they’re not. This line proves that he pays attention but he doesn’t always have the answer.

Sir, using language like H-E-double hockey sticks! You should have your mouth washed out with soap.

I didn’t enjoy this part of the episode all that much. It reminded me too much of the Season 7 episode that involved the wedding, but at least there was a slightly different reasoning behind it. However, one thing I did enjoy was seeing Jared Padalecki stretch his acting chops.

We’ve watched him play different versions of himself or different characters in the past, but we’ve not seen the 1950s husband before. And what a treat it was! His disgust at the word “hell” was just so funny.

WWWD. What Would the Winchesters do?

I’d guessed that Dean and Jack were going to see Donatello for help to deal with the soul issue. Donatello has the chance to share how he’s living without a soul, with tips on how to deal with it. However, it’s this line that stood out.

We’ve heard it before. Donatello uses the Winchesters as his anchor. He focuses on their actions and their humanity to get an idea of what he should and shouldn’t do. Sure, the Winchesters aren’t perfect, but they definitely have a moral code to live by.

Sam, I know you want to be happy. And I know what it’s like to lose your army. I know what it’s like… to fail as a leader, Sam. But you can’t lose yourself. You have to keep fighting. You can’t lose yourself, because if you do, you fail us. You fail all of those that we’ve lost. You fail Jack. Sam, you fail Dean.

This is one of those lines that I couldn’t cut down to just the important parts because all of it was important. Out of everyone, Castiel was able to understand everything that was going on inside Sam’s head. He could understand why Sam was unhappy and why this other life seemed better.

Out of everyone, Castiel has already been through it all. He’s lost his army and failed as a leader. He’s been able to move past it and keep himself in order and he knows that Sam will be able to, too.

What I love about this moment in particular (not just the line) is the way that Sam and Castiel continued to strengthen their bond. For years, it’s been about Dean and Castiel but this last season has focused strengthening the bond between the two.

And yes, I loved the “God has a beard” line but this was more important.

I hate this place right now. I hate it. Everywhere I look I see them. I see Maggie. I guess that’s why — why I was so desperate to get out of here, why I kept running us ragged. But I got to stop that. I-I can’t keep running. I — This is my home. This is our home. Dean, I think I just need some time.

This is another line that I just couldn’t cut down at all. Sam’s realization of how much he hates the bunker right now is important development. We see how much he’s struggling to cope with the loss of his army — no, his friends.

We’d seen all season how Sam had stepped up as a leader. Throughout the season, he wavered but gained his confidence back. Mary, Dean, and Castiel were there to boost him as a leader, knowing that he is one. And in one moment, everyone was gone.

Sam isn’t okay and he knows he can’t keep pretending he is or keep running. He admits his “weakness” but also admits that he needs some time. The only thing I didn’t like in this moment was that Dean just said “okay” and walked away. I would have loved for Dean to just sit there silently.
