The promos for the return of 9-1-1 Season 2 teased an upcoming storyline. We got glimpses of Chimney being stabbed by a hooded assailant. Now the question is whether Chimney will leave the series.

During the winter break, there was one thing we got to know about 9-1-1 Season 2’s return. One of our own was going to be stabbed. We got a glimpse of Chimney being stabbed in the stomach by a hooded assailant and now we have confirmation as to who this guy is. Now the big question is whether Chimney is leaving.

I’ll be honest and say I just don’t know! I would usually say that surviving that many stabbings in the stomach isn’t going to be easy and most characters are killed off but then so are those who get a pole straight through the brain. Chimney has already survived one crazy injury, so why wouldn’t he survive this one?

The trailer for the next episode (and possibly future episodes) don’t give us a hint of the outcome. There are snippets of what looks like firefighters in uniform at a procession but this isn’t necessarily going to be funerals. However, I haven’t seen any sign of Chimney in any of the scenes with the LA wildfires.

Of course, not seeing him in the trailer for the rest of 9-1-1 Season 2 doesn’t mean he’s going to be killed. If he was going through recovery, he wouldn’t be in the future callouts. This happened in the first season after the brain injury.

The good news is that Chimney will at least be in the next episode. 9-1-1 Season 2, Episode 12 is titled “Chimney Begins.” Like “Hen Begins,” this is going to be an episode about Chimney’s first introduction into firefighting and how he became a paramedic.

We may get an episode purely in the past, so just focused on Chimney. Since we know that Hen wasn’t around at this point and we’ve already seen that Chimney was the first person she met, there may not be anyone else from the current cast involved in the episode.

There is some good news, though. A check of Kenneth Choi’s IMDb page shows that he’s in until the end of 9-1-1 Season 2. While I wouldn’t take this as definitive, it’s a good sign that Chimney is going to survive but it will be a fight for his life.
