Kate takes on a powerful judge on tonight’s midseason episode of For the People. Is she ready to take on what is perhaps one of the riskiest cases in her career?

Kate’s latest case is against an extremely powerful judge with Sandra’s encouragement on tonight’s For the People. I hope that means we’ll be seeing a continued growing friendship between those two as I took immense joy in their bonding on last week’s episode.

Who is the judge in question? A man who has garnered a reputation for over-sentencing young children to prison. One girl, shown in the trailer, is serving four years despite the fact she is likely under the age of ten years old.

More from ABC

In the synopsis, he is accused of these wrongful sentences for profit, yet the man is also supposedly well-respected in the judicial system. It remains to be seen how successful Kate will be but she is warned by Roger to be careful in her pursuit. She could wind up seriously jeopardizing her career if things go sideways.

Kate, Sandra, and Roger aren’t the only ones who get involved, Judge Byrne is also asked to testify and he must make a very difficult decision regarding his status. I’m guessing Byrne may be friends with the judge and be unsure of whether or not the charges are true.

If we know anything about Kate, it’s that she will be well-prepared and researched before she so much as blinks in the judge’s direction. She’s not someone who makes stupid mistakes or slip-ups.

Outside of the courtroom, we’ll be getting some Jay and Seth scenes this week! There is a leak in Seth’s apartment so he has to crash with Jay. I’m sure the moments between them will bring some levity to what may be a heavy episode.

This is the mid-season episode of For the People Season 2. I can’t believe it’s been back for five weeks already! The season finale is slated to air on May 16 after the respective finales of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19.

"Sandra urges Kate to take on a case against a very powerful and well-respected judge who is accused of wrongfully sentencing young children for profit. When Judge Bryne is asked to testify in the case, he questions his role in the rigid justice system and must make a very difficult decision. Elsewhere, Seth temporarily moves in with Jay until a leak in his apartment is fixed."
