Netflix’s The Silence is streaming now! And before you judge it for being too similar to A Quiet Place, here’s what you should know…

A new horror movie is now streaming on Netflix, The Silence. The synopsis? Here it goes: The basic premise of the film is to keep silent, or creatures will hear and hunt you. That’s right. If you make any noise, they’ll hear it and come running to kill you. They key to surviving is to not make a sound.

We know what you’re thinking. The plot sounds extremely similar to that of John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place, and you’re not wrong! In fact, the family The Silence follows features a young girl who lost her hearing, just as A Quiet Place does. Is this a bad copy of the hit film or is it worth watching?

The answer is up to you, but you should get the full story, first. And by that we mean there’s a lot more than meets the eye in The Silence. The Netflix Original film features many twists that separate it from the big-screen movie.

More from Netflix

For starters, The Silence has many more characters in store, it will not only follow one family. But the biggest twist? The family trying to survive in The Silence come across a community of survivors. It doesn’t take long for them to realize this is more of a cult, and they have a particular interest in Ally (Kiernan Shipka), the young girl who is deaf. What could they want her for and what is this community about? We’ll have to watch to find out!

The Silence also stars Stanley Tucci and Miranda Otto. The official from Netflix is:

"“With the world under attack by deadly creatures who hunt by sound, a teen and her family seek refuge outside the city and encounter a mysterious cult.”"
