2. Amelia’s biological sisters suck.

Wow, Kathleen and Nancy are awful people. Amelia and Link wind up at an impromptu Shepherd dinner after a run-in with Nancy at the hospital and the night dissolves swiftly into chaos. Once the ruse is discovered about Link’s real identity, the entire house of cards comes tumbling down. Kathleen and Nancy dig into Amelia with such vindictive glee you’d think they were Batman villains.

More from ABC

Seriously, watching them tear into Amelia for indiscretions from years ago when they know nothing about who she is now or what she’s been through was brutal. I wanted to slap both of them by the end of the scene.

It’s a shame since Amy Acker tends to play fan-favorite characters but ouch, I’d rather never see Kathleen again unless she learns a little humility. My jaw dropped when Nancy undercut Amelia’s surgical skills and implied she only had her job because Derek allowed her to have it. I mean honestly, it’s no wonder Amelia doesn’t spend time with these people.

Thankfully she has her real sisters waiting for her at home. Maggie and Meredith are ready to listen to the good Shepherd vent about her trip, Link, sisters, and all, when she gets back home.

1. A little bravery goes a long way.

Link and Amelia are becoming quite the surgical team as they attempt to fix the spin of a young man with severe scoliosis. I actually have scoliosis myself and have had spinal fusion surgery. I had to get Harrington rods in my back to correct the curve. It was eye-opening to see someone struggling with his rods in this episode, his curvature was so severe they had punctured the skin.

But even though the surgery was risky, Amelia decides to be brave and help him — and it works! They completely change his life.

Amelia also has an overdue heart-to-heart with her mother. Even though I’m not a fan of the Shepherd sisters, I was touched by this scene. I do think Amelia’s mother was genuinely trying to help her and be a part of her life, perhaps in a way her siblings can’t.

I think her mom gave her some valuable advice about her life and love, enough to motivate her into making things right with Link. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of these two together, it’d be nice for Amelia to have her mother in her life more.

Odds & ends

  • Amelia makes amends with Link by buying him donuts from his favorite doughnut shop! Adorable.
  • It was nice to see a guest appearance from All American’s Michael Evans Behling this week!

A new episode of Grey’s Anatomy titled, “Head Over High Heels”, premieres April 18 on ABC.
