Game of Thrones: Arya’s reunions in Season 8 Episode 1
In the Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere, Arya had many highly-anticipated reunions, allowing her a rare moment of happiness before everything hits the fan.
Game of Thrones premiered on Sunday, and it was a time to catch up with all of our characters after the show being absent for a year and a half. And of course, we caught up with Arya. While she didn’t do a whole lot, she did participate in some highly-anticipated reunions.
First up, she finally reunited with Jon. The two haven’t seen each other since Season 1, Episode 2. So when you talk about anticipated reunions, this one is definitely the top of the list. And the show did not disappoint. What we got was a beautiful reunion between Arya and Jon.

The two reunite out in the snow and embrace in a beautiful hug, and the smiles on their faces are just amazing. After their hug, the two pull out their swords and show them off to each other. Jon asks Arya if she’s ever had to use it, and she replies, “once or twice,” and viewers everywhere laugh, because we all know exactly how many times she’s used that sword.
When Jon starts talking about Sansa being cold toward Dany, Arya jumps to her sister’s defense, surprising Jon. Before all the events of the series, Arya would not have ever defended Sansa.
Next, Arya went to the forge with directions for some secret weapon, and she ran into two blasts from her past. First, she runs into the Hound, who she last saw when she left him for dead. The two stood in front of each other and looked each other up and down, before acknowledging each other how they last saw each other. And surprisingly The Hound is not angry at Arya but seems actually proud of her.
Finally, we get the reunion between Arya and Gendry. The two fall back into their old ways, snapping witty sayings to each other, jabbing Arya’s nobility and Gendry’s lack of nobility. There was even a little exchange of some flirtatious looks, definitely leaving the viewers wanting more interactions between the two.
