Game of Thrones Season 8 premiered on Sunday and it’s time to break down Sansa’s view of Dany’s troops. She’s so busy focusing on the wrong thing that she’s more like Cersei than she probably would like to admit.

Game of Thrones Season 8 quickly got most of the reunions over and done with. In the end, we had an episode of the Northern lords and ladies having to deal with Jon Snow bending the knee to Daenerys Targaryen. Sansa Stark very quickly pulled him up on that and she’s becoming the North’s version of Cersei Lannister.

I have to scratch my head at the North. They’re so busy distrusting outsiders and blaming Jon for bringing Dany and her troops in that they completely overlook the current danger. Sansa is leading this ridiculousness by focusing on all the wrong things.

Can she stop worrying about the Iron Throne right now?

More from Game of Thrones

Quite honestly, the war in Westeros isn’t going to matter if the Night King gets his way. He’s killing and raising the dead as he heads to Winterfell. Whether he’ll bypass Winterfell and head to the lesser protected King’s Landing first isn’t clear, but it doesn’t really matter. In the end, the battle is going to head to Winterfell. We already know the North isn’t safe.

Just like Cersei with her thoughts about the Night King taking out the North so she gets to keep her crown — does she really think the Night King isn’t going to attack her? — Sansa is too busy distrusting Dany. Naturally, she doesn’t want to end up bowing to a Targaryen. To be honest, she didn’t really want to bow to Jon but he is the one the North rallied behind. Yet, she’s so busy focused on this narrow-minded view that she’s forgetting the bigger picture.

Is this another calculative move?

We know that Sansa is manipulative and calculating now. She’ll think ahead when she needs to, as we saw when she ordered Littlefinger’s execution. Sansa has even admitted in Game of Thrones Season 7 that she took a lot of inspiration from Cersei, especially how to be a strong and powerful woman. However, she’s becoming too much like Cersei that it will likely be her downfall.

Is Sansa really so focused on Dany and the dragons that she’s going to forget that the North needed a bigger army and desperately needed that dragonglass? Surely, with the help of Creepy Bran and his visions, she knows that working as a team is far better right now.

Something I wonder is that all this is because she knows Jon is the rightful Targaryen. She wants him to take Dany’s place and knows that the North should rally behind him. Or maybe she sees it as a way to sidestep Jon and become the Queen of the North. But whatever the reasons, she’s thinking too small.

This isn’t about the Iron Throne right now. All efforts should be on saving Westeros from the Night King and there aren’t enough people worried about that just yet. Hopefully, Tormund and the others get to Winterfell before the Night King and manage to get the warning out that House Umber has fallen. That should put the fear of the gods into everyone.

While there are certainly some Cersei traits that Sansa will want to use, there are others she should forget all about. Overlooking the dangers of the Night King and the need to work together is a trait she needs to forget right now. It’s going to get her, her siblings, and the rest of the North killed.
