This week on Mom, Christy meets someone new but can she trust him? Also, Bonnie goes crazy over Adam’s insane generosity.

Adam surprised the Plunketts by stoking the fridge and cabinets with food because he was tired of coming home to “a box of baking soda and a fuzzy lemon.” When Bonnie asks him how much he spent, Adam shrugs it off saying it isn’t a problem because of how well the bar is doing.

Over a meal at the bistro, Bonnie freaks out whenever anyone says anything about Adam’s success. Afraid of jinxing him, she quickly quiets whoever opens their mouth about it.

Tammy proposes Christy joins her for a double date with her boyfriend Yuri’s friend Sergei, which she excitedly accepts.

The dinner ends up going really well, with Christy and Sergei hitting it off. Taking an aside with Tammy, Christy shares the good feeling she has about him. But once he answers the door and starts arguing in Russian with some sketchy “delivery men,” Christy starts to have second thoughts.

Adam, who turns out to have another surprise up his sleeve, takes Bonnie to the car dealership to buy her a new car. The salesman, Baxter, Christy’s ex-husband, tries to sell them on the latest model, which woos Bonnie with premium “lumbar support,” but she can’t stomach the thought of Adam spending so much cash on her and runs away, through the sunroof, naturally. Unsure what to do, Baxter asks Adam if they want to go get high.

Grabbing a quick meal together at the bistro, Tammy meets up with Christy to give her a message and a present from Sergei. Christy, although impressed by the Apple Watch, has a bad feeling about Yuri and Sergei. Christy shares her worry that Tammy is risking her parole by being involved in potentially criminal activity, but she wouldn’t listen.

Coming home, Adam reveals he went ahead and bought the car, even though Bonnie refused. Going back to the dealership, Bonnie insists Baxter tear up the contract. Taking his former mother-in-law back to his office, Baxter suggests she relax and try to get used to being with someone who has money to spend on her, sharing his adjustment from living in his van to living with Candace. Even though he was spilling jelly on his shirt the whole time, Baxter managed to get through to Bonnie.

Going to see Yuri to return the presumably stolen watch, Christy lets him know she is worried about Tammy getting thrown back in jail if Sergei got caught. Understanding what must be done, Yuri ensures Christy he will take care of it.

Later, Christy finds Tammy waiting outside before a meeting. Tammy approaches Christy and lets her know that Yuri dumped her because he couldn’t just abandon Sergei, who is both his cousin and the only reason he was able to come to America. Distraught, Christy wonders if she did the right thing even though it really hurt her friend.

That evening, Bonnie, Adam, and Christy go for a joyride in the new car. With the former two singing along to the radio and the latter in the backseat watching a movie, the family-of-sorts paints a light-hearted picture that is a relieving to see knowing how chaotic their lives normally are.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Mom? It was so good to see Baxter, right? He hasn’t made an appearance for quite a while and I nearly forgot all about him. Can’t believe he still has that job at the dealership. So sad Tammy’s relationship with Yuri fell apart, but it’s probably for the best.
