This week’s supergirl finds National City on the hunt for Supergirl. Meanwhile, Supergirl and Lena team up to track down Lex.

After Red Daughter attacked the White House on last week’s episode of Supergirl, the president has made Supergirl into National City’s most wanted. Colonel Haley, Alex, and Lena believe in Supergirl’s innocence but the citizens of National City think of her as a traitor and are on the hunt.

When Supergirl tries to save a man trapped in his car she finds herself on the receiving end of an attempted citizen’s arrest. Later in the episode when she and Lena visit Stryker’s Island she finds herself both taunted and cheered by the inmates.

The hardest thing for a hero like Supergirl is to have her reputation ruined and her integrity questioned and it’s clear Kara is not taking it well. Hopefully it’s only a matter of time until they discover the truth about Red Daughter and Supergirl’s name is cleared because I don’t know how much of this Kara can take.

Even though Colonel Haley and Alex believe in Supergirl’s innocence, when Ben Lockwood storms into the DEO using his new cabinet position to demand that they give him weapons to take her down, and that they summon her for him, it seems like Colonel Haley may be willing to comply.

The hunt for Supergirl has not only affected Supergirl but also caused there to be a curfew set and harsh measures taken against aliens. This prompts Brainy to plan to delete the DEO’s alien registry so that they can’t be located.

But as usual for Brainy, he overthinks things and gets stuck when he realizes there’s a 50/50 chance that deleting the registry could make things worse. It’s hard for a poor 12th level intellect when he can’t use his numbers and calculations to make decisions.

Who else can Brainy turn to but Nia Nal, the girl who can dream the future. He asks her to dream the future for him but she instead gives him the wrong answer knowing that it will lead him to the right one, which is that he needs to delete the registry.

On the advice of his sister Kelly, James is now seeking help for his trauma. His therapist gives him a tool to help deal with his panic attacks, but when he has an attack at CatCo and destroys some property it’s clear that there’s more going on here than just PTSD. James is developing powers, which is not a shock since Lex developed powers from the same serum Lena gave James.

Alex also goes to Kelly Olsen for advice and tries to appeal to Colonel Haley’s moral compass. Unfortunately Colonel Haley knows that Alex lied about the watch that summons Supergirl, Alex said to press it twice which is in fact the signal for Supergirl not to come, so their talk doesn’t go the way Alex hoped.

Despite how their talk ended, Alex’s appeal did work and Colonel Haley presses the watch twice when the time comes. But Ben Lockwood doesn’t leave empty-handed, he takes the DEO weapons with him when he leaves and he is by no means giving up his attempt to track down Supergirl. The president also gives him the ability to deputize the Children of Liberty so this is far from over.

In the meantime, Supergirl has been investigating Lex at Stryker’s Island with Lena’s help. Of course, Lex saw this coming and the whole thing is basically a mindgame for Lena. They Luthors take messing with your sibling to a whole new level.

Lex has done everything he can to mess with her, from leaving notes in Chess pieces to leaving an image and date of the first patient Lena’s experiments killed. It’s almost alarming how easily Lena lied and told a story about the Romanov’s and how Lex used to call her the lost princess. She wanted to hide her experiments from Supergirl and the secrets between these two just keep adding up.

Lena realizes the chess set is a puzzle and it turns out that Lex left all his diaries behind, forcing Lena to go into his twisted mind and read about all the mistakes she’s made since she was four. It’s a special kind of torture designed just for Lena, since it’s the last thing she would want to do.

Otis Graves is also there at Stryker’s Island, with a Metallo suit of kryptonite, and though Lena gave Supergirl a kryptonite shield it doesn’t last long. So while Lena is deciphering Lex’s evil plan Supergirl is forced to deal with Otis and a whole crew of escaped inmates as well as soldiers on the hunt for Supergirl.

Eventually, Supergirl changes her appearance back to Kara Danvers as a disugise and is able to escape unscathed. By the time she finds Lena again (as Supergirl once more) Lena has found Lex’s secret lab hidden behind a wall.

Unfortunately, before they have time to take or save any evidence, Lex causes Otis’s Metallo suit to explode and Supergirl and Lena have to retreat. Lex wasn’t going to let it be that easy, after all. Otis was also blown up in the explosion, but Eve put him back together. Which isn’t creepy at all, nope.

Supergirl decides to lie low after everything that happened and Kara later returns to Styker’s Island, as Kara Danvers the journalist, to meet with an inmate she befriended during her mission earlier. The man gives Kara what may be her big break as he has Lex’s hard drive uploaded. So finally there’s some hope on the horizon.
