Dead to Me on Netflix is a satisfying quick binge
By Sandy C.
Dark comedy Dead to Me is now streaming on Netflix, and it is a highly satisfying quick binge not to be missed! (NO spoilers ahead)
Dead to Me is a tragicomedy that follows Jen (Christina Applegate) after the sudden death of her husband, Ted. Jen is desperately trying to move on, but even more determined to find the person who killed Ted in a tragic hit-and-run. While at a grief support group meeting, Jen meets Judy (Linda Cardellini), and the two quickly bond over their losses and become close friends.
Judy is friendly, but there’s a lot of mystery that surrounds her character and it’s not long before we learn Judy’s secrets. Dead to Me wastes no time getting into things, presenting itself as witty, sharp, dark, and a lot of fun.
It’s not all laughs, though, not at all. Dead to Me‘s dark tone is strongly present and you’ll find yourself deep in your feelings along with the characters at various moments.

With the release of Zac Efron’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and the sudden and unexpected cancellation of Santa Clarita Diet, Dead to Me has easily been missed in the shuffle. But don’t skip it! It is worth watching and a very quick binge.
The tragicomedy consists of 10 episodes, each about 30 minutes long. In total, you’re looking at about 5 hours. Not a single episode is there simply to expand the series, each one stitches the story together perfectly and is packed with an intriguing developing mystery.
Cardellini and Applegate are fantastic together! Both women have complex personalities, yet have traits you’ll find incredibly relatable.
One of the main twists I was able to successfully guess just by watching the trailer, you may have, too. But know there’s a lot more to the story! Dead to Me has more than one twist up its sleeve, and an event that happens in the final episode is a game-changer! You will be left dying to watch Season 2 (let’s just hope Netflix gives it a renewal).
