Out of all the characters, Sansa has certainly had one of the biggest transformations. She’s been through hell but, like Bran has routinely said about other characters, her experiences have made her the woman she is today.
I know this isn’t something everyone has liked. There is an issue with the writers saying that Sansa had to go through hell to stop being the “Little Bird,” but I didn’t take it that way. I took it as she knew that The Hound would have treated her well and looked after her. He would have fought against everyone who would even attempt to hurt her and would have stopped her from shrugging off the “Little Bird” skin.
It wasn’t that she needed to go through the experiences she did with Littlefinger and Ramsey, but that she needed to go through experiences without The Hound. She’s a survivor and it took bad things happening for her to realize how strong she is mentally and emotionally. Had she left with The Hound, she would have come across Arya and the two wouldn’t have likely been through the journeys they had.
Sansa needed to shrug off that skin of naivety. That’s something she did and she doesn’t regret not going with The Hound when she had a chance. It’s a strong way of looking at everything hse went through in her life.
