Station 19 renewed for Season 3 with new showrunner
Station 19 has been renewed for a third season. Along with the renewal, it’s gained a Grey’s Anatomy showrunner.
I don’t think we really needed to be worried about the fate of the show, but it’s always good to get confirmation. Station 19 has been renewed for a third season by ABC, bringing a new showrunner at the same time.
Last month, Stacy McKee stepped down as showrunner for the fire drama. With the renewal, Grey’s Anatomy showrunner, Krista Vernoff, has stepped into the role. She will continue to oversee everything with the parent show at the same time.
More from ABC
- Dancing with the Stars season 32 week 9 scorecard: Who went home on DWTS?
- Roger Howarth is leaving General Hospital (Cast exit explained)
- Taylor Swift won’t appear in special Dancing with the Stars episode
- ABC will start rolling out its midseason schedule January 2024 (Release dates and airtimes)
- Grey’s Anatomy season 20 officially has a premiere date (Everything to know)
Does this mean we’ll have more crossovers? More than likely. It also means that we may see characters from each show appear in odd episodes that aren’t official crossover events, similar to the way One Chicago routinely has the odd character appear in other shows now and then.
The renewal comes off the back of news about other TGIT shows. Grey’s Anatomy has unsurprisingly been renewed, this time for two seasons, meaning we’ll have the medical drama until 2021. How to Get Away With Murder has also been renewed for a sixth season. There are no words on whether this will be the last.
For the People was the only TGIT drama to be canceled. The news came late last night, kicking off the bigger announcements for ABC ahead of its Upfront Presentation on May 14.
Station 19 will likely keep its fall placement, after being moved there due to a strong freshman midseason placement. It remains one of the top dramas for ABC, so renewing was a no-brainer.
