Last Man Standing ended its seventh season when Kyle and Mandy moved out. Elsewhere, Boyd raised support from Ed and Chuck for his spring musical.

Last Man Standing completed its seventh season and its first season on FOX. Fortunately, our beloved sitcom will return in the fall for Season 8. Before we send the show on its summer break, what happened in Season 7, Episode 22?

After finding a new apartment to live in above Buds Buds, Mandy (Molly McCook) and Kyle (Christoph Sanders) were reluctant to move into it in Last Man Standing Season 7, Episode 22. Their hesitation to move stemmed from Kyle. But why? How did Mike (Tim Allen) and Vanessa (Nancy Travis) respond? Lastly, did they finally move?

More from FOX

Elsewhere, Boyd (Jet Jurgensmeyer) was raising support for his spring musical. He wanted to rope Ed (Hector Elizondo) and Chuck (Jonathan Adams) into their assistance, but was he successful?

A moving finale

Last Man Standing Season 7, Episode 22 was cleverly entitled “A Moving Finale.” The moving aspect of it referred to Mandy and Kyle finally moving out of the Baxter house into their new apartment. The finale aspect was self-explanatory; it’s the seventh season finale.

To begin the episode, Mike entered the garage. To his dismay, none of Mandy and Kyle’s belongings were packed. He then learned why, which was both sweet yet not what he desired.

To celebrate them moving out, Mike made waffles for himself, Vanessa, and Eve (Kaitlyn Dever), who was home from Air Force on summer break. He made them in a Baxter family heirloom, a waffle maker. Eve quipped that history is baked in there, not the excessive butter Mike claimed.

Upon entering the kitchen, Mandy and Kyle announced they canceled the moving van. They weren’t moving out! Mike and Vanessa equally wanted them to move. Mike proposed if they didn’t move out, then he would list the apartment for rent. Unfortunately, Kyle agreed he should offer it up for rent.

Mike and Vanessa asked Mandy why she and Kyle refused to move out. She informed them that Kyle lacked a loving household growing up. Now that he had one in the Baxter house, he didn’t want to leave it behind.

Vanessa tried another approach. She made a picnic basket to show Kyle that wherever the snacks go, they’re still tasty. The same principle is true about familial love. The family will love Kyle wherever he went.

Kyle ignored her advice, adamant he lived in the Baxter house. Vanessa called Mike over for some tough love. Mike gave it to Kyle; he kicked him out of his house.

After moving all their stuff into the apartment, Ryan (Jordan Masterson) offered to take Mandy, Kyle, and Eve out for lunch. Mandy agreed, but Kyle and Eve stayed behind. Eve inquired what troubled Kyle. He felt kicked out of the family rather than simply kicked out of the Baxter house.

Eve imparted some tough love and wisdom upon Kyle. Mike knew Kyle was ready to leave the house. He wouldn’t have kicked him out to suffer. Mike loves Kyle; he just doesn’t necessarily easily show it or verbalize it. Eve boosted Kyle’s self-esteem. He will always be a Baxter.

Later, Mike dropped by with a gift specifically for Kyle. He gave him the waffle maker, the Baxter family heirloom. It had been passed down by Baxter men; now it was Mike’s turn to give it to Kyle. While ‘I love you’ was never said, all Last Man Standing viewers felt it. Mike truly loves Kyle.

Last Man Standing Season 7 wrapped with a Mike vlog. Mike talked about the need to nurture children because one day they’ll leave the nest. Just because they’re gone doesn’t mean a parent’s love for them is also gone. To cap off the heartfelt moment, Kyle watched it with Mandy in their new apartment.

The music man

To Chuck and Ed’s delight, Kristen (Amanda Fuller) brought muffins to Outdoor Man.

She then told them that Boyd would be asking for support for his spring musical. Both men dreaded hearing about it. Ed commented Boyd is becoming bratty. Perhaps Boyd’s teenage attitude will be more noticeable in Last Man Standing Season 8.

When Boyd entered Outdoor Man, the two men hid in Mike’s office. Chuck hilariously noted he fought Iraqis in war, and now he hid to avoid helping a spring musical. Oh, the irony!

Boyd found both of them after Chuck’s phone rang. He proceeded to ask them a series of questions, which they both begrudgingly agreed on. Sure enough, Boyd strong-armed Ed into buying several tickets and financing the cast wrap party. As for Chuck, he agreed to build the stage.

When Jen (Krista Marie Yu) arrived, Boyd tried to rally her support as well. She sternly passed on the offer, to Chuck and Ed’s shock. When they wondered how she did it, she, in turn, encouraged them to donate to the geology club. Hook, line, and sinker, both men pulled out their wallets!
