Supernatural Season 6, Episode 6 recap: It’s all about the truth

The Winchesters have to deal with a case of the truth in Supernatural Season 6, Episode 6. Here’s a look back at the events of You Can’t Handle the Truth.

How would you deal with the truth constantly being thrown at you? The Winchesters deal with a case that involves the truth in Supernatural Season 6, Episode 6.

It all starts with the fourth suicide within two weeks in one city. The latest shot herself after being bombarded with several truths, her sister delivering the harshest one. The Winchesters arrive to find out a murder has happened — dentist Dr. Connelly drills into his friend, who confesses to having sex with Connelly’s daughter.

Getting to the bottom of the problem

The Winchesters need to figure out why people are killing themselves or others. What connects the victims? They were having music lessons at Harry’s House of Horns, where an antique horn had been stolen. It turns out this horn is Gabriel’s Horn of Truth, which has led to destruction everywhere. The missing horn may have led to people telling truths even if they don’t want to.

It quickly turns out that it’s not the horn. So, what could it be?

Dean tries to figure out Sam’s problem

Throughout the episode, Dean focuses on Sam. He needs to know what’s happened to his brother, knowing things aren’t right after the events of the previous episode. He gets Bobby on the case but turns to Cass to question the possibility of Lucifer still possessing Sam. Cass is sure that isn’t the case but doesn’t stick around for more answers.

However, Castiel returns and admits that he does want to help Sam. He’ll start to make some inquiries.

Of course, this part links to the case. While at a bad, Sam admits that he’d just like the truth. This leads to people telling him all sorts of embarrassing truths. Realizing he’s been cursed, Dean decides to test it on Bobby.

Now he has the chance to get answers from Sam. However, Sam shares that he never intended to let Dean be turned into a vampire and that he froze. Dean is relieved at the situation, although he’s not happy that Lisa calls with her own truth about her feelings for Dean — and his dependency and unhealthy relationship with Sam. It’s over between them.

The missing bodies

Sam heads out to the morgue for the bodies, but they’re all missing. All Sam can do is head to the first victim’s house, where he learns Corey had been obsessed with learning the truth about her boyfriend. She had everything needed to summon Veritas, the pagan Goddess of Truth.

Tracking down Veritas’ human form — a reporter named Ashley — the Winchesters find her. It’s there that Veritas reveals Sam is able to lie around her. That shouldn’t be the case or he can’t be human.

After Dean and Sam kill Veritas, Dean turns on Sam. What is he?

Finally, Sam reveals some sort of truth. He knows that he didn’t come back from Lucifer’s Cage right. His emotions aren’t there but that’s made him a better hunter. Dean doesn’t take that well, punching Sam in the face until he’s left a bloody mess.
