More from Supernatural

It all starts with a job from Crowley. He thinks there’s a werewolf and he wants the alpha. Of course, the Winchesters don’t want to help him but Crowley threatens with sending Sam back to Lucifer’s cage. So, off the Winchesters go, where they find out the two victims both crossed Cal Garrigan.

When he doesn’t change but ends up dead, they wonder whether his girlfriend, Mandy, is the werewolf. Sam wants to take her in and find out where the alpha is but Dean wants more proof that it’s her first. It’s fortunate that Dean stopped his soulless brother, but Mandy was innocent in all this. It turns out it’s the dog, Lucky.

Lucky isn’t just any family dog, but a skinwalker posing as the family dog. Is Mandy in danger?

Getting Lucky from the animal shelter

Sam tails Lucky, who accidentally gets hit by a car and taken to the animal shelter. The Winchesters get him back, and he shares that he was homeless and was recruited to become a skinwalker. There are about 30 others who have been recruited and are living as family pets.

They’re all waiting for orders from the pack leader to infect the families, creating more skinwalkers. However, he doesn’t know about the Alpha Skinwalker but he does manage to lead the Winchesters to the pack leader.

It turns out the pack leader has kidnapped Mandy and her son and threatens to kill them unless Lucky turns them into skinwalkers. The Winchesters choose to open fire on the skinwalkers, killing all except Lucky, who is shot but not gravely hurt.

In the end, Lucky attempts to make up for the bad with Mandy and thanks her for her kindness. However, Mandy can’t let Lucky back into her life and he leaves, transforming into a dog to live like that.

The problem with Sam

Knowing that Sam is soulless is just the tip of the iceberg for the Winchesters. Dean continues to worry about his brother, especially when Sam admits that he doesn’t really care about anyone, even Dean. Sam also reveals that he killed innocent people in the last year, which is something Sam Winchester would have never done.

Living without a soul is hard but Sam wants to try to be the better Sam. Dean agrees but also shares that he isn’t going to stop looking for a way to return Sam’s soul to him.
