Top 10 movies: Toy Story 4 wakes up a sleepy box office
By Sandy C.
The box office finally got a wake up call this weekend thanks to Woody and Buzz in Toy Story 4! Which other movies made it to the top 10?
Movies haven’t been impressing crowds lately, but Buzz and Woody are here to save the summer. Well, until Spider-Man: Far From Home takes over from Toy Story 4, that is! How well did the latest Toy Story movie perform in theaters this weekend and which other films made it to the top 10? Box Office Mojo has updated its chart!
The results are in! Moviegoers still love Buzz and Woody as much as ever! Toy Story 4 opened to $118 million domestically and $120 million overseas, for a grand total of $238 million. That’s impressive. However, Toy Story 3 opened to $110 million — but that was 9 years ago!
Ticket sales have gone up, for starters, so the fourth installment should have definitely done better based on that fact alone. Still, $118 million is great, and something the box office desperately needed.

Second, you’ll find Child’s Play with $14 million. It’s low, sure, but it was reportedly put together with a $10 million budget, so the reboot is a winner here. The movie has not opened internationally just yet, so the numbers will surely grow.

Aladdin is in third with $12.2 million and Men in Black International settles for fourth with $10.7 million. What is not on the top 10 is Avengers: Endgame, which barely reaches No. 13 with $1.8 million.
Endgame needs about $38 million to take from Avatar the record of highest grossing movie of all-time. Will it be able to do it with its upcoming re-release? We’ll have to wait and find out!
