Legacies is officially returning for its second season in October of this year. Here are a few things we would love to see in its sophomore run.

The CW has announced its premiere dates for the fall television slate. We know Legacies will return on October 25th for its second season. But that’s still several months away. In the meantime, we’ve begun theorizing things that could happen when Legacies graces our television screens once more.

The first season was a critical success and proved that the TVD universe still has plenty of stories to tell with a new generation. But there are a few things we would like to see from the second season of the series.

5. Explore Hope’s dark side.

At the end of the day, no one should forget that Hope Mikaelson is the true-blue daughter of Klaus Mikaelson, one of the most feared Original vampires in existence. It would be interesting to explore Hope’s dark side and let her be a little evil. We saw a taste of this on The Originals but it was mostly because she was affected by the Hollow.

I’d like to see if being in the Malivore potentially affects Hope and causes her to channel some of her father’s trademark rage. It seems the show’s star, Danielle Rose Russell would agree as she spoke to TV Guide about this very topic at The CW Upfronts this past May, stating, “I’d really love to explore her darker side a bit after jumping into Malivore. I’m sure it’s taken some sort of effect on her mental psyche.”

4.  Add more nods and shout-outs to The Vampire Diaries.

I recognize that Legacies is its own entity, as it should be. After being on the air for more than ten years, it’s important that The Vampire Diaries universe moves in a new direction. Legacies has been a breath of fresh air for the Plec and Kevin Williamson-created series. While TVD was immensely popular when it premiered, I can’t imagine anyone fathomed how long the series legs would be.

That said, even if we can’t get as many guest or cameo appearances by the original actors as we’d like (many have been outspoken about moving on from the franchise), it would be nice to get more callbacks and nods for the fans.

I’d like to see old TVD traditions return, I was ecstatic by Miss Mystic Falls being included (and the Klaroline dress was a beautiful tribute)! But I feel like season one was mostly light on this as Legacies tried to establish itself. Moving into season two, hopefully, the writers will throw in a little more.
