Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light comes to life in SDCC activation
The new Audible Original Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light is sending guests on an “immersive audio-driven journey” to meet all new superheroes in its SDCC activation.
Audible invites Comic-Con attendees and fans to “become co-pilots” within the new Audible Original, Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light, a story that explores the complex relationship between humankind, science and technology — including the technology that surrounds streamers, influencers, viral media, augmented reality, and more.
Off-site activations have risen to the top of many people’s SDCC Must-Do list over the past several years — with very good reason — and this new activation from Audible was on the top of our list for 2019.
Inside, fans will experience reality-bending light and sound-driven interactions, including a “matrix-like light labyrinth,” all of which coordinate with important moments and scenes from Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light.

The first room of the SDCC activation brings guests into a room covered with screens, along with scattered standing mirrors. Yara Shahidi narrates as we learn about one of the story’s main characters: Cameron Ackerson. The room turns into a large body of water and is quickly met with a light show and large, colorful lightning strikes.
In the second room, fans take a self-guided tour through several “audio stations” where you can step on Audible logos to hear segments from Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light. A few of them also have corresponding light elements that make the space even more immersive.
Throughout the experience, you’ll trace Cameron’s origin journey, a sequence of events that take him from an ordinary teen and wanna-be famous video creator into a cyberkinetic superhero. The activation hints at Nia, another main character in the story, so look out for information you can gain on her, and be sure to listen for Stan Lee’s message as you get close to the exit.

SDCC Panel:
Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light will have a panel on Saturday, July 20 from 6:30 – 7:30pm in Room 7AB with narrator and star Yara Shahidi, co-writer Kat Rosenfield, and co-creators Luke Lieberman and Ryan Silbert. The panel, which will be moderated by Andre Meadows (aka Andre “Black Nerd”), will “give fans an exclusive look into the new Stan Lee universe of powerful themes and dynamic characters”.
SDCC Activation Information:
The activation for the Audible Original Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light is located at K St. & 4th Ave. in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego. It’s open for guests (no Comic-Con badge required) on Thursday and Friday from 11:00am to 8:00pm, on Saturday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, and on Sunday from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
