Is it possible for Genevieve Padalecki to return for Supernatural Season 15?

Jared Padalecki wants to see his wife, Genevieve, back on Supernatural for the final season. Would it be possible to bring Ruby back?

During San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the Supernatural actors and EPs shared about their hopes for the final season. Jared Padalecki shared that he hopes to bring his wife, Genevieve, back to the set.

Of course, it’s been met with mixed opinions from fans of the series. While Genevieve is beloved and extremely sweet, she played one of the most hated characters on the series, Ruby 2.0. Brought in during the fourth season, it turned out that she played everyone for her own gain — to get Lucifer out of the cage.

So, understandably, not everyone wants to see Ruby back. But this is the final season. And it only seems fitting that some of the most loved and hated show characters would be brought back in some way, shape, or form. Why not Genevieve Padalecki, who remains a supportive member of the SPN Family behind the scenes.

But how could a character who hasn’t been in the show for 10 years come back? Even for the final season, character returns need to be for legitimate reasons.

The good news is there is one legitimate way to bring Ruby back. The end of Supernatural Season 14 saw God open the Gates of Hell. Souls were released. This suggests that other gates could have been opened, including the gateway to the Empty.

We did see Jack woken by Billie. Others could be woken too, and the Empty is where Ruby will be — angels and demons head there when they’re killed. Whether on the side of good or evil, someone could easily bring Ruby back from the Empty and back into the fight.

There’s also the option to bring Genevieve back for a cameo, similarly to the way she was brought into “The French Mistake” in Supernatural Season 6. We wouldn’t be able to have an exact replica but a way to bring Genevieve as herself would be fun — and maybe not a stereotype of actors?
