iZombie recap: Liv and Ravi go Ocean’s Eleven for one night
It’s the penultimate episode of iZombie. In Season 5, Episode 12, Liv and Ravi need to break into the CDC. Literally. What brains do they need?
Like me, you may have been able to forget that iZombie Season 5 is the last of the story. That was until Episode 12. Not only were we reminded that it is the penultimate episode in the press releases, but the whole episode has the feel of an ending, especially with Clive’s tearful goodbye with Liv and Ravi before Dale told him he would need to go too.
With the formula for Utopium in the hands of the CDC, there was hope that it would be turned into a cure. However, Ravi learns that nobody cares about a cure. It’s not getting made and now the formula is somewhere in the CDC.

It’s time for an Ocean’s Eleven style heist. They’re not heading for casinos but the CDC. Stakes are high and, at one point, there’s a beautifully emotional moment as Clive isn’t sure if Liv and Ravi will make it back.
He even offers some brains of deceased thieves to make sure Liv and Ravi can get the right brains for this heist because apparently, brains in embalmed bodies can last 10 years. Who knew?

Mission Possible
Throughout the episode, we get to see Liv and Ravi both on different brains. It starts with Liv on a Heist Brain and Ravi on the Russian Tech Brain. It’s not a smooth and error-free mission, especially with Clive there to help distract one of the CDC employees, but it is enough to get everything they need to break into the CDC’s high-security basement.
On Ninja Warrior Brain, Liv and Ravi break in by scaling the walls and ceiling. Clive dresses as a janitor and breaks in with Charlie in his trash, so she can use her retinal scanner to get into the important room.
However, it looks like everything goes wrong when the doctor and security turn up at the safe with the formula. Don’t worry, this was something Liv and Ravi expected. They planned it so that the doc would open the safe and they could take the formula out of his hands.
Ravi does go Raging Zombie at one point and it looks like he’s going to cross the line. Liv is there to help prevent that. Now it’s time for Ravi to make the cure.
Major loses power
Unfortunately, things aren’t great for Major. New Seattle is turning into a war zone. He takes a group of Filmore Graves soldiers out to calm the humans, but they’re ambushed by some of Enzo’s men.
The soldiers following Major decide to join Enzo. Major runs away before getting shot, but that means he’s not getting into Filmore Graves to get the Max Rager needed for the cure. Uh oh! That’s a problem for the iZombie finale.
Blaine wants his kids back
In the last episode, Ravi and Major helped save the teens with the only current-known cure for zombieism. Well, Blaine wants those kids back. Security footage shows Ravi is involved, so Blaine when he finds out Ravi hasn’t been to work for three days, he follows Peyton.
That gets Blaine and Don-E (who is mourning Darcy and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Don-E turn against Blaine in the finale) into Renegade’s hideout. Holding Peyton at gunpoint and shooting one of the human smugglers, he takes the teens.
This is certainly a storyline to wrap up next week. I do wonder how it will all play out with just one episode left.
