Ravi finally has a way to bring about a zombie cure in iZombie, but there’s a huge problem that nobody seems to have thought about.

After five seasons, we may finally get a cure on iZombie. However, if this cure is created, there’s going to be a huge problem. In fact, there’s going to be a big moral dilemma.

During iZombie Season 5, Episode 12, Liv shared that everyone could take the cure and then there would be no more zombies. The problem of New Seattle being nuked would be solved because there would be no human-zombie war. That would be great, but there’s one huge thing: she’s assuming every zombie wants to take this cure.

Not everyone will want to. After all, some of these zombies have been scratched by Liv to save their lives. They’re suffering from terminal illnesses, so they’re seeing zombieism as a way to save their lives. They’re not exactly going to want to be cured if it means certain death.

But they’re not the only ones to consider. There are going to be some zombies out there who just prefer life the way they are. They may prefer the immortality of their condition, especially if they’re in zombie-zombie relationships.

The idea of making everyone take the zombie cure is immoral. It’s just as bad as putting the zombie virus in the flu shots and turning people against their will. People deserve to make an informed choice. They need to know the pros and cons, understand the possible risks, and decide whether they want this zombieism “cured” or not.

Taking away the choice “for the good of humanity” isn’t honorable. While Liv may think that every zombie out there is like her and wants their normal lives back, that’s not going to be the case. And I honestly hope that this is brought up should the cure be made.

Then there’s the question of what happens to those who decide not to become human again. Do they need documentation to say they’re zombies? How will they get their brains without making humans feeling like they’re at risk? What happens when humans don’t want zombies around? This is bigger than a cure right now and we’re just not touching on it.
