They say that a dog is a man’s best friend and The Art of Racing in the Rain takes a look into how really true the saying is by exploring the thoughts of a brilliant dog. Milo Ventimiglia plays Denny, a Seattle race car driver that is on the brink of getting his big break. While getting his life up to speed, he makes the big decision to buy a pup.

What Denny doesn’t know is that his dog has a lot to say about what’s going on around him even if he can’t voice his thoughts out loud. The Art of Racing in the Rain is based on a 2008 NY Times best-selling novel of the same name written by Seattle author Garth Stein. Stein wrote about the opinionated pupper based on buddhist beliefs of reincarnation.

Narrated by the smooth voice of Kevin Costner, Denny’s dog Enzo is not only learning about life but also has a love for racing. Saying that these two are soulmates is truly an understatement. When it all starts, Enzo is just a pup, but throughout the movie, he grows up to be a big healthy dog. As the dog grows, Denny’s life expands too. He gets married, has a child, and his career takes off.

But as we all know, life is not all about roses. There is trouble ahead that Denny and Enzo must face together even if Denny doesn’t realize he has help from his furry friend. Enzo, an avid TV potato head, has learned a lot from the tube. He also realizes that he can understand life better using race car driving allegories he’s learned from his dad.

Life is filled with obstacles and Denny is lucky enough to have Enzo who involves himself whenever his owner needs him.
