5 best Jared Padalecki moments in Supernatural Season 14
Sam Winchester had some powerful moments in Supernatural Season 14. What about Jared Padalecki as the actor? Here are the top five moments.
Last week, we looked at Sam Winchester’s best moments from Supernatural Season 14. There were some complaints that one particular moment wasn’t included. That’s because I always had a plan to do the best moments for the actors, and today it’s all about Jared Padalecki’s top five moments.
The one moment that came up in the Sam post was at the end of “Prophet and Loss.” However, before you jump on me too much, you’ll want to read this post. That moment is listed because for me it was Jared’s best moment and not Sam’s.
Here are my top five favorite moments from the actor in Supernatural Season 14.
5. The look of shame and disappointment towards Bobby
In “Nightmare Logic,” Apocalypse Bobby offloads to Sam. Bobby doesn’t agree with every decision that Sam has made. I get it. Not everyone will, but Bobby was out of line. Yet, Sam didn’t have the guts to stand up to him because he felt like he was failing as a leader.
This was an excellent Jared Padalecki moment. He showed that discomfort but also the feeling of worthlessness. It was heartbreaking to watch him, and I cheered when Dean was the one to stand up for his brother. I was also happy to see the smile Sam gave Mary when she shared just how proud she was, another excellent Jared moment.
4. That look he gives Mary at the start

At the very start of the season, Sam is wearing himself down. He’s barely sleeping, looking for any sign that his brother it out there. Mary is the one that tries to encourage him to sleep.
Once more, we get the subtlety that is Jared Padalecki’s acting. He doesn’t say too much, but you can tell his feelings through his eyes. He’s tired, but he just can’t give up on looking for Dean. He plays a Sam that is torn and just needs his mom at times. It’s so beautifully bittersweet.

3. Joining forces with Samantha
In “Mint Condition,” we got an episode were Sam actually got to be happy and excited about things. Sometimes, it’s easy to overlook these moments, but they actually show the versatility of an actor’s abilities. That’s why this is one of Jared Padalecki’s best moments of Supernatural Season 14.
I’m thinking more specifically about when Sam manages to make a bomb with a Scooby-Doo lunchbox after he and Samantha are locked in a room. They get to bond over their shared look for geeky science stuff and Same seems to have a bit of fun. In fact, Jared seemed to have fun.
2. Showing the discomfort working with Nick
A lot of Jared’s great moments really are at the start of the season. We get this moment where Sam reveals to us that Nick is still alive. And while I feel for Sam that it’s him who deals with Nick, this is an excellent Jared moment.
You can see the discomfort. Lucifer tortured Sam but this wasn’t Lucifer. Sam had to keep remembering that, despite it being the same face. The moment continued, too, as we watched Nick fall off the deep end in search for Lucifer. Jared continued playing this version of Sam that tried to look for the good but wasn’t comfortable at all with the situation.
1. The end of Prophet and Loss
See, I promised this would be here. While this was a great Sam moment, it stood out more as an excellent Jared moment. There was so much emotion thrown into this scene and you could tell that it wasn’t just acting.
This wasn’t Jared pretending to be Sam telling Dean to fight for them. It was Jared using Sam as a vessel to show all his emotions about what Dean was about to do. This reminds me of Season 4 when Jensen Ackles struggled with the talk of what happened in Hell. J2 have routinely put everything into their scenes, and it shows in “Prophet and Loss.”
