Shannen Doherty joins the group on BH90210, but it’s not without significant effort from run-ragged producer Tori. Can the gang pull it together?

They haven’t even been reunited for a single episode of the Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot, and they’re already seeking group therapy from the one and only Carol Potter. (That’s Brandon and Brenda’s mom Cindy Walsh for all you superfans.) BH90210 turns up the drama as the gang gets closer to hitting their marks, but they have to tackle their first photo shoot — and we all know how much tension there can be at a 90210 photoshoot, as legend has it.

From firing a key member of the reboot to hiring their show’s most elusive star, Tori has her hands full in the latest BH90210 as she balances being a producer, peacekeeper, and working mother. Meanwhile, Jennie and Brian’s new help raises suspicions as Jason’s secrets come to light and Gabrielle further explores her piqued interest in the opposite sex. Let’s break it all down with this week’s five most shocking BH90210 moments.

1. Tori fires a writer, hires an elusive star.

Once the ball starts rolling on the reboot, Tori quickly learns that wearing the producer hat comes with as many headaches as it does perks. Before the gang can even lie down to recreate their iconic cast photo, Tori must fire the writer, who slept with Jason’s wife and got her pregnant, and track down Shannen to make the network happy.

She bites the bullet and drops the ax on Jack then jets off to Peru, where she braves llamas and mountains, to rope Shannen into the madness. It’s all in a days work for Tori, but she never lets ’em see her sweat.

2. The group gets counseling from Mama Walsh.

Dedicated BH90210 fans will remember that Kelly Taylor was the one who majored in psychology at California University, and later served at the guidance counselor at West Beverly on The CW’s 90210, but the gang turns to Carol Potter for group therapy. The former Cindy Walsh, who has a degree in counseling in real life, tries to mediate with the group as the argue about everything from Jason and Jennie’s affair to their on-set demands.

Beginning with Jennie, they each leave one-by-one, but something tells us they’ll be back with Shannen in toe for a mother-daughter reunion.

3. Gabrielle explores her options with Christine.

As suspected, Gabrielle’s husband doesn’t take her honesty regarding her kiss in Vegas particularly well. He doesn’t understand how she wants to explore her feelings while also remaining in a committed marriage with him. Gabrielle doesn’t quite understand it either. To make better sense of her sexuality, she turns to Christine, who recommends getting on a dating app. Because she tries to conceal her identity on the app, Gabrielle doesn’t receive many messages, though she does get an interesting drink proposal from Christine. Go for it, Gabby!

4. Jennie and Brian extend their trust.

Danger, Jennie and Brian, danger! Fresh off the mutilated doll situation, Jennie takes the network up on the offer for a bodyguard. However, even having a handsome stranger whose job is to protect her, Jennie’s trust issues keep holding her back. She warms up to Wyatt (Brendan Penny), but should she trust him? Meanwhile, Brian officially hires Zach (Ty Wood) as his assistant, and even though he’s proven helpful to Brian and Shay’s marriage, those stalker-y tendencies aren’t going anywhere. Brian giving Zach a key to the house will come back to bite him for sure.

5. Ian pulls a real Steve Sanders move.

For 10 seasons on Beverly Hills, 90210, Steve Sanders was perhaps the most infuriating character. Sure, he often kept the mood light with his jokes and antics, but whenever he got himself into trouble, which was often, he was dumbfounded. Ian showed shades of Steve this week as a female writer rebuffs his seemingly well-intentioned compliment. He gets drunk and complains that it’s a rough world for older men because they can’t say or do anything without offending anyone. Please, oh, please let this be a satirical jab at men who actually make these remarks.
