Today it’s time to look back at Misha Collins’ best moments in Supernatural Season 14. Here are the five that stood out for me.

It’s easy to think about character best moments. We often think about the times that the character made us feel certain emotions or left us hoping for some sort of happiness somewhere along the way. But what about the best moments for the actor? That’s something I look at today for Misha Collins in Supernatural Season 14.

Castiel certainly had good moments. There were times that he was smart, focused, and more of a soldier. But Misha Collins’ best moments are some of the more subtle scenes. Here are the ones that stood out for me.

5. Jack’s death

More from Supernatural

During Supernatural Season 14, Episode 8, we saw Jack die. One of Castiel’s best moments may have been in Heaven, but for Misha Collins, it is the scene as Jack dies. More importantly, it’s the moment that he tells Dean to go back into the room for Jack.

There’s so much emotion coming from him. Castiel is able to look past his own grief and be there for Jack. You can see that this is an important moment for Misha Collins. All three men on the show are fathers. They were pulling from their own emotions.

4. Remembering Mary

There’s a moment during “Absence” where Castiel thinks about Mary and one of the hunts they were on together. One of Misha’s best moments of the season is when he’s just on his own thinking about it. There are all these emotions coming through his expressions.

It’s not easy to act alone. Showing emotion through pure facial expressions isn’t something everyone can do. Misha pulled it off beautifully.

3. On the bench with Jack

At the very end of the season, Castiel sees Jack and tries to find a way to protect him. This whole conversation is a moment of pride but also of hope and bittersweet memories. Misha Collins once again looks deep inside for something to portray this scene with genuine emotion.

I have loved seeing Castiel get to step up as a father and a guide to Jack. In this moment, we’re reminded of the journey Castiel has been through, and the journey Misha has been through while on the show.

2. Listening to Dean’s concerns about Michael

There are some little changes of emotion in Misha’s expressions during Supernatural Season 14, Episode 14. Dean shares that he can’t let his guard down, and you can see this flicker of concern. Castiel tries to put up a front or remain neutral a lot of the time, but there are times the emotion comes through.

And Castiel is clearly worried about Dean. He wants this man he shares a profound bond with to be safe. With just a few looks, we see so much.

1. His anger towards Dean

It can’t be easy being angry at someone you like. The Supernatural actors have to routinely portray emotions they don’t feel for each other, which can be draining. Throughout the final two episodes, Castiel was furious with Dean’s actions.

Misha Collins doesn’t show any sense of drain on his own emotions. He plays the role and makes us feel for Castiel. There are moments he is us in that moment, as we all wished Dean would find a different way to deal with the problem.
