Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story franchise is going strong with 1984 being the latest chapter in the anthology series. Need more shows with similar creepy vibes? Here are 5!

American Horror Story: 1984 premieres Sept. 18! I’m not sure why, but it feels as if the series has been gone for way too long! Still, I’m sure I speak for most AHS fans when I say that we’re not looking forward to this chapter as much as we previously have anticipated others. Why? Well, it’s all because of the cast.

As you already know, series favorite Evan Peters will not star in AHS: 1984. He was only a small part of AHS: Roanoke, but this is the first time the actor will miss a season since its big premiere. Peters came back strong as one of the main characters in AHS: Cult, and had a strong presence in AHS: Apocalypse. He’ll be nowhere to be seen in 1984, though.

More from Entertainment

Sarah Paulson is only having a small role this season, due to other commitments. And not appearing at all is Kathy Bates. Jessica Lange exited the series a couple of seasons back, but did make a cameo last season, Apocalypse, that won’t be happening in 1984. The cast this season includes:

  • Emma Roberts
  • Gus Kenworthy
  • Angelica Ross
  • Billie Lourd
  • Cody Fern
  • Leslie Grossman
  • Matthew Morrison
  • DeRon Horton

Whether you are patiently waiting for AHS: 1984 or will only be watching as a loyal American Horror Story fan, changes are you love the creepy genre! If you’re searching for similar vibes, we’ve got five shows you need to add to your list.

Here are five shows to watch if you love American Horror Story…

5. Bates Motel

If you have watched Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic movie Psycho, you may think you already know what chilling scenes Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) takes audiences on, but expect many surprises and new characters. So, if you think the show will be too predictable, think again! The series is not afraid of stepping outside of the pages it originates from and is sure to keep all audiences on the edge of their seats!

You’ll also not be able to help but fall in love with these characters, which isn’t always a good move. Another big reason to watch is Vera Farmiga’s (who portrays Norma Bates) brilliant performance.

Bates Motel originally premiered on the A+E Network. The psychological horror drama is now over after running for five seasons and came to a heartbreaking, but satisfying conclusion. Watch all episodes on Netflix. The five seasons are long, you may not be able to watch them all before Sept. 18, but you can always save this show for watching between American Horror Story.
