After finding themselves in the hospital, the Winchesters have to escape the Leviathans. How long can they stay gone in Supernatural Season 7, Episode 3?

With Bobby’s house destroyed, we all feared the worst in Supernatural Season 7, Episode 3. Fortunately, we were quickly given answers when Dean woke up in Sioux Falls General Hospital with a broken leg. Bobby walks into the room. Yes, he survived—we knew he wasn’t in the house when it was destroyed, right?

However, there were more pressing matters. One of those was Sam heading for an MRI after the knock on his head. Bobby gave Dean orders to get dressed before heading off in search for the younger Winchester brother.

Getting out of the hospital

If only getting dressed and running away was that easy. While Sam was still knocked out, Dean was on crutches and on morphine. It’s not surprising that Dean is almost caught by the Leviathans on the way out of the hospital.

Fortunately, everything goes to plan. The Leviathans find out that the Winchesters are in the hospital but it’s too late to get to them. Bobby has already stolen an ambulance and got Dean and Sam out.

Three weeks later

We don’t spend too much time on what Dean, Sam, and Bobby are up to. All we learn is that three weeks later they’re in Whitefish, Montana, in one of Rufus’ old cabins.

Hunters everywhere are encountering Leviathans. These creatures are like shapeshifters but eat people, and so far, there’s no way to kill them.

Sam heads out to the store for some supplies, where he sees a newspaper with the “ice pick killer” headline. He snaps it up and pays for everything on a credit card that alerts the Leviathans to where th Winchesters currently are. However, the focus is on the newspaper for a while. Sam knows of the story, but this one took place back in 1998.

The story of the kitsune

Sam knows that he’s dealing with a kitsune, a human-looking monster that feeds on the pituitary glands of humans to survive. We get a series of flashbacks throughout the episode of Sam meeting Amy at the library while researching kitsune. The two end up becoming friends, and we eventually learn that Amy Pond (no connection to the Doctor Who character of the same name) is a kitsune. In the past, it was her mom doing the killing. Now, it’s Amy.

However, Amy has her reasons. She only feeds on the dead to survive but her son got sick from eating the flesh of the dead. she needed living people to save his life. Now that he’s fine, she’ll go back to dead people only.

Sam is willing to accept this, but Dean finds out about the full truth and is skeptical that the kitsune won’t attack again. It’s not surprising by the end of the episode that Dean decides to go back to the motel Amy and her son are staying and kill Amy. He does let the boy go since he hasn’t done anything yet. However, Dean promises that he will kill the boy if the boy hurts people. The boy only has plans to kill Dean.

While all that happens, Chet the Leviathan who got the credit card alert is at the store Sam bought items from. He sees Sam on the security footage and calls Edgar to say that he’s on the Winchesters’ trail.
