9-1-1 Season 3, Episode 1 quickly told us how Buck was faring. Now it’s time to get ready for the tsunami in Episode 2. Will Buck survive?

9-1-1 Season 2 left the fates of one of our own in an unknown position. After surviving the fire engine trapping him, Buck was left with the possibility of never being a firefighter again. The Season 3 finale seemed to give us hope, but it wouldn’t last.

Throughout the episode, we saw Buck get through his reinitiation test, getting the all-clear. It was supposed to be a happy time until he started vomiting up blood. No, it’s not Ebola as Athena’s kids questioned, but it is serious. Buck has blood clots and they’re life-threatening.

This immediately puts his future with the LAFD at risk. What if something happens while he’s on a call?

More from FOX

Hearing that he likely won’t make it to full duty again, Buck decided to quit partway through the 9-1-1 Season 3 premiere. That’s led to him questioning what he will do. Being a firefighter has always been his dream. Athena pointed out that everyone else had lives before joining the force—we’ll get to see what made Athena join the police force later this season—Buck didn’t have that.

In the end, Eddie found a way to pull Buck out of his slump, sort of. He found a way to get Buck out of the house, anyway. Eddie needed someone to look after Christopher and turned to Buck.

This is where we’re left. Buck took Eddie to the fair at the beach, and we were left with the tsunami heading towards them in the 9-1-1 premiere. It looked like the two were on a platform that is as far out from the coast as possible, which means there’s very little chance of Eddie and Christopher getting back before the tsunami hits the beach.

During the trailer, there’s a moment where Buck is holding onto Christopher in the water. They’re clearly swept under, but Buck will do whatever it takes to save Christopher. Sadly, that whatever it takes could be at the cost of his own life.

One thing fans have pointed out in Facebook groups is that Oliver Stark hasn’t been spotted filming recently. That could mean he’s not in the show after the first couple of episodes. There’s a moment in the promo where Christopher is reunited with Eddie, but we don’t see what happens to Buck.

I’m not sure I can wait until next week to get answers, but that’s the way it’s going to have to be!
