You know fall TV is back when you’re taken on the wild ride that is 9-1-1 on FOX. Season 3 premiered with a bang. Well, more like a crazy high-speed chase that had a twist you definitely didn’t see coming.

After watching it twice—and I couldn’t take my eyes off the episode at all on both occasions—it’s time to break down those crazies moments throughout “Kids Today.” Just what were the five craziest moments of all?

Just as a word of caution, there are spoilers in this post if you haven’t watched the 9-1-1 Season 3 premiere yet.

5. The speeding driving calling 9-1-1

More from FOX

Let’s get the cold open out of the way. We start the episode with a high-speed chase. But this isn’t a robbery or someone skipping out on the cops.

The driver ends up calling 9-1-1. Fortunately, it’s Maddy who ends up taking the call and she’s able to get a few details from the kid. He’s 15 and he took his dad’s car out for a joyride. However, the clutch has broken and now he can’t slow down without the car shaking like crazy. He’s understandably scared—but I do have to wonder why the hell he didn’t call 9-1-1 before the cops were after him.

Athena comes up with a crazy plan. Get the 118 truck to offer the kid thing to crash into in a controlled way. It all works, fortunately, and the kid even hears that his dad doesn’t love the car more than him after all (although the dad will likely strangle him for terrifying him like that).

Oh, and yes, the clutch was broken. Poor kid!
