Season 2 of The Masked Singer is underway and already there have been some improvements, but these 3 tips could help the show be even better.

Season 1 of Fox’s The Masked Singer was a huge hit. Each week, we patiently watched to figure out the clues and see if we could deduce who was under the mask. Some weeks were tougher than others while some were pretty easy. As impressive as Season 1 was, Season 2 has already upped the ante in week one with two eliminations.

With almost an entire season left to go, how big and more exciting will The Masked Singer go for the remainder of the season?

Please note: There will be spoilers for Season 2 if you aren’t caught up yet. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? The Masked Singer is amazing and you should be watching already!

I’d be remiss to not mention the changes that have made in Season 2 to make it a lot better than the first. Of course, the costumes are a lot more elaborate and designed so you can’t see the competitor’s bodies as much. Last season, it was easier to tell how tall or short someone was by their costume and to get a good idea of what their body looks like. The show was also telling us their height too which was a dead giveaway for some.

Additionally, for Season 2, the clues are a lot more difficult to put together. Last year, it felt like every character had a really obvious clue. Thus far this season, the clues have been tougher as none of the judges could guess the identity of the ice cream cone. It was a gaming YouTuber named Ninja so they aren’t the target audience either. Regardless, making the clues harder has made a huge difference.

Keeping this season exciting is going to depend on the performer under the mask. Since we don’t know who it is, the performers have to put together something incredible. Thus far, all of the singers have gone big and it paid off for them. Performances are such a huge part of the show that sacrificing anything doesn’t guarantee a spot in the finals.

Another way that Season 2 can up the ante is to switch up the judges. Last year, the show had guest judges but I’d like to see the guests change a bit. Maybe swap a judge out a week for someone else? Sometimes, it’s better to have fresh ears, hearing their voices rather than the same people. It would be a nice way to mix it up, especially considering that Robin, Jenny, Nicole and Ken haven’t been the best guessers.

The last key to keeping Season 2 of The Masked Singer exciting is taking the emphasis away from the clues. While clues are a huge part of the show, it doesn’t tell the full story. Rather than feature some throwaway clues, the show could highlight the performances more. They did a version of this with the two lowest-voted singers going head-to-head. As important as the clues are to The Masked Singer, the show shouldn’t rely solely on them as some of the clues are clearly meant to mislead viewers and the judges.

On the whole, Season 2 of The Masked Singer is infinitely better than Season 1. Everything that needed to be reworked for season 2 got it. However, keeping those few tips from above in mind, the team still has room for improvement. Hopefully, bringing in the next round of masked singers will be every bit as exciting as week two.

The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays on Fox at 8/7c.
