Alternate Dean is coming to the world of Supernatural Season 15, as we go into other dimensions. Which world could this Dean come from?

We know we’re getting an alternate version of Dean, according to TVLine‘s Inside ScoopSupernatural Season 15 is going to look at other dimensions, and it sounds like Sam Winchester isn’t part of this world. At least, he’s not been mentioned. The question now is what has happened in this world for Dean to possibly hunt alone.

There are a few theories floating around, a few reasons why Dean could have been alone. After all, we just have to look at one or two things done differently at some point in the show’s storyline to see a change. Here are my top theories.

The world where Sam said yes

More from Supernatural

There are going to be worlds where Sam or Dean or both said yes to Lucifer and Michael. When looking at the Last Ride trailer, we see a scruffy Dean that looks very much like the one we saw in the future Zachariah showed him. Of course, that future was just something Zachariah made up, but what if it was based on some sort of truth?

What if there is a world out there where Sam said yes to Lucifer and couldn’t control the archangel? Maybe we get to a world where the apocalypse half happened and Dean is trying to keep individuals safe.

A world Sam wasn’t brought back

In Supernatural Season 2, we saw Dean make a deal with a crossroads demon to bring Sam back from the dead. It was always foreshadowed to happen, but what if Dean didn’t make that decision? Is there a world out there where Sam died at the abandoned town and Dean had to go off and hunt alone?

That would definitely explain why Dean is hunting alone, and why he looks like some wartime hunter. Jake would still be alive, the Gates of Hell would have been opened, and some sort of apocalypse would have started.

A world where Sam wasn’t even born

What about a world where it’s just Dean on his own? Is it possible that we could be taken to a world where the Winchester brothers don’t exist, where there’s only one of them?

There are various ways this could have happened. Mary or John may have died earlier than they did in our world or they may have split up. Mary may have even heeded warnings and chosen against a second child.

Dean may have grown up as a hunter seeing his mom protecting the innocent. Or Mary still died at the hands of a demon and John and Dean set off on a hunt. Either way, we could see a world where only one Winchester brother was born.

The world Sam never joined his brother

Sam could have remained in school in Supernatural Season 1. The show relied on Sam choosing to join his brother in the pilot because they had work to do. But what if that didn’t happen?

We could find ourselves in a world where Dean is hunting alone because Sam chose the normal life. Maybe he is still with Jessica or maybe Jessica still died but Sam didn’t feel the need to get revenge (unlikely, but this is an alternate world). Maybe there’s even a world where Sam and Jess didn’t meet, so nothing happened to pull him back into the world of hunting.
